Lithium-ion batteries are in more of our homes than ever, phones, power tools, e-bikes, scooters and more.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services recommends keeping an eye out for warning signs such as:

-Overheating.
-Swelling.
-Unusual smells or noises.
-Discolouration or leaking.

⚠️ If a battery is damaged or showing signs of failure, don’t ignore it. Lithium battery fires can spread quickly.

Smoke alarms must be installed at least 400mm (40cm) away from ceiling fans and air-conditioning vents (where practicable) and 300mm (30cm) away from walls and light fittings to ensure they detect smoke as quickly as possible and reduce nuisance alarms.

A poorly positioned smoke alarm may not provide the protection your family needs.
