🚨👀 Building for Class 1a Approval 👀🚨
At Jemco. Services, we're committed to designing homes that can achieve Class 1a building approval—the classification required for a liveable dwelling.
Over the past several months, we've gone back to the drawing board, redesigning our entire range to ensure the approval process is as seamless as possible for clients who want to follow the correct pathway and have their dream home certified through their local council.
As part of this process, we've increased the floor area across our designs to accommodate the accessible circulation spaces required under current standards. We've also recessed our entry doors to create a seamless, zero-step transition from outside to inside. Our wet areas already feature step-free entries, and our homes have zero transitions between internal rooms, creating a practical and accessible living environment.
However, it's important to understand that the building itself is only one part of achieving Class 1a approval.
The way your home is installed on your block plays an equally important role. Factors such as your property's flood level, foundation height, finished floor level, whether access ramps are required, and even the orientation of the home on the site can all influence compliance. For example, positioning a home to face north rather than east can affect the Energy Efficiency assessment. There are many moving parts, which is why every Class 1a application is assessed on a project-by-project basis.
At Jemco. Services, we've invested extensive time researching these requirements and working closely with building certifiers, town planners, consultants and governing bodies to develop a comprehensive understanding of the approval process.
