We had a customer by the name of Patrick Murphy wrote a negative Google review against Zen Roofing in Jan 2023. We have no problem with customers giving criticism as it will help us improve and grow as a business. However this particular customer was not being truthful and provided a lot of false information in his review with the sole purpose of damaging our company’s reputation following a bitter QCAT case against Zen Roofing. The true story is, one of our roofers put a foot through the ceiling of Mr Patrick Murphy’s small bedroom by accident. The ceiling turned out to contain asbestos. Zen Roofing does have a $20m business liability insurance cover, unfortunately it does not cover asbestos related damages. We took full responsibility for the accident and hired independent hygienist and asbestos removalist to decontaminate the bedroom. During the process, some of Mr Murphy’s personal belongings had to be discarded as asbestos contaminated waste. We took approx. $6K off Mr Murphy’s bill in compensation. Unfortunately Mr Murphy wanted a lot more than what he was entitled to. This case has been heard by the QCAT and Zen Roofing won the case – see the attached QCAT ruling. Zen Roofing’s workmanship on Mr Murphy’s roof was also looked at by the QBCC who was unable to find any defect – see the attached QBCC letter.
