I took this photo for a friend today We are still in the midst of renovations that are taking an excessive amount of time and effort…and most unfortunately delaying garden…we have one builder-free patch of ground Arborist helped us build up to level Playing around with placement of a few plants we propagated or rescued + Tetrapanax papyrifer from Planning on lush green leafy understory Still working on plant palette Limiting factors include -5 (but may be not in this sheltered north area), a few patches of hot sun but mostly summer shade, tree roots and limited soil available to plants, limited water anticipated Planning on a couple of raised circles for larger plants …Experimenting

The first in a series of posts sharing some of my favorite Castlemaine gardens from walking and exploring around town
Hargraves St garden - clipped curvy shrubs - why do I like it - an all year garden, simple composition, good repetition, shrubs suitable for the area, well maintained and works beautifully with the lovely brick home - currently pops with mauve rosemary flowers - I always feel drawn to it when I walk into town

Almost time for the - a highly recommended weekend event at Mt Macedon
Unfortunately we can’t make it as stallholders this year but hope to be back with our garden cloches next time

Wonderful to see Melanie & Trevor’s in
We are in the midst of a renovation in Castlemaine - hence very little time for insta at the moment. However, it was actually Danthonia that inspired us to investigate hybrid homes and retrofitting to focus on increasing thermal efficiency. And in what we have done so far we are pleased with results - not as exciting as a passivhaus but more liveable than most old homes - so thank you Melanie!
It is almost three years now since Melanie got in touch about a garden design and I am so pleased she did - it was wonderful to collaborate with a horticulturalist and help bring to life her ideas for the garden to complement Danthonia, with implementing the design.

We are in the midst of a renovation in Castlemaine - hence very little time for insta at the moment. Wonderful autumn morning exploring wicking beds with the very knowledgeable at Little Cottage on a Hill
And they are very stylish wicking beds!
Will be perfect in our new garden in Castlemaine …which is a little way off - first finish extensive renovations … then remove beyond extensive concrete driveway (one of few areas with sun)… then create perennial and vegetable garden
In meantime enjoyed revisiting Little Cottage on a Hill - a beautifully designed small and very productive garden executed with attention to every detail
