Heads up Queensland! ⚠️

With significant rainfall over the past few days and more to come, it’s vital that everyone in the community stays safe.

When faced with flash flooding, don’t get carried away. The bravest and smartest thing you can do is BACK IT UP. No reason is good enough to drive through floodwater.

Keep up to date with the latest warnings by following Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES and the Bureau of Meteorology. For flood assistance, contact the SES on 132 500. In a life-threatening emergency, dial Triple Zero (000).

Remember, if it’s flooded, forget it.

Moving into your new rental?

Before moving in, make sure smoke alarms are installed. Your property owner or real estate agent must test and clean each smoke alarm in the property before you start your lease.

Here are some smoke alarm handy tips for tenants:
💡 Test and clean smoke alarms once a year.
💡 Replace flat or nearly flat batteries.
💡 Tell your property owner or real estate agent if there is a problem with the smoke alarm (apart from flat batteries).
💡 Let the property owner or real estate agent into your home to install smoke alarms.

Remember: never remove or touch a smoke alarm or the battery unless you are testing it, cleaning it or replacing the battery.

Why should you always use a licensed electrician?

Businesses providing electrical services in Queensland must have an electrical contractor licence. They must meet specific insurance requirements and have a minimum $5 million public liability insurance with a $50,000 consumer protection component.

Electricians’ work must meet legal requirements and applicable codes of practice and technical standards.

Unlicensed and Do-It-Yourself electrical work is dangerous, illegal and can be fatal. Don’t risk your life or your loved one’s lives, just to save a few dollars.
