People choose large format tiles for a reason.

They want a cleaner look, bigger surfaces and fewer grout lines.

But when it comes to shower floors, a lot of tilers will tell you:

“To get the falls right with large tiles, you need to split them.”

Do you really?

At OJIC, we’ve been using a different approach for years.

We minimise split cuts wherever possible and use controlled flex in the tile itself to create the fall exactly where it’s needed.

This shower has no step down and no shower door.
It’s a fully open layout, so the water inside the shower needs to fall to the shower drain, while the water outside needs to fall to a separate floor waste.

The change in fall happens through the middle of a 1200mm tile, not on a grout joint.

No unnecessary splits.
No extra grout lines.
Just one continuous tile, flexed to follow the drainage design.

Because if you choose large format tiles, they should still look like large-format tiles.
