The Dunga Derby countdown is ON… and we need you (yes, you)!
In less than 2 weeks, we’ll be cramming ourselves into a barely-roadworthy vehicle and embarking on the Dunga Derby – a wild ride for a seriously good cause.
But before we break down on the side of the road (emotionally or mechanically – hard to say), we need your help!

Storms in April – Sunny Coast! – How Bizarre!

Is it Bizarre though? Did you know that Thunderstorms are relatively frequent in Southeast Queensland during April, as part of the thunderstorm season which extends from approximately October to April. While the peak season for severe thunderstorms is from September to March, thunderstorms can occur throughout the year, and April is within that timeframe.

The Sunshine Coast experienced three storms including lightning last Saturday (12th April 2025). The frequency and severity can vary, but it's not uncommon to experience thunderstorms during April.

In Australia, the summer months (October to March) generally require more Lightning Protection due to increased thunderstorm activity. Take the opportunity in the winter months ahead to be storm ready for next Summer. Call QPP on 07 5450 7826 or email [email protected] for further information.

“Viking" QPP’s original pirate or in our case Grey Nomad has once again been engaged in outback QLD expeditions, missing the footy and quality time in the office, instead opting for exploration of new regions where no Melbournite should go!
