In 2000, around 62% of the world’s population had safely managed drinking water.

By 2024, that number reached 74%.

That’s a 12 percentage-point improvement.

Sounds like great progress — and it is.

But here’s the part we shouldn’t ignore:

Around 2.1 BILLION people still don’t have safely managed drinking water.

And looking ahead to 2036, own estimate — based on the pace of progress so far — is around 80% of people could have safely managed drinking water.

That could still leave around 2 billion people without it.

The world isn’t running out of water.

We’re struggling to make clean, safe water available to everyone who needs it.

12% improvement in 24 years is progress.
