Solar service done today - it shows how far we have come within the solar industry as this system is 10 years old. Main issues were
1. dc isolator exposed to the elements
2. dc cabling lying on the roof
3. Unearthed panels
4 Cables running through tiles without a fit for purpose colar

Servicing includes;
1. Full check by a licenced electrical inspector.
2. Wipe panels to ensure efficiency
3. Full report highlighting non compliances.

A common question I get asked is when do I have to submit a certificate - within 4 business days of the completion of the certificate for prescribed and non prescribed certificates - if the work is prescribed it must be inspected within 8 business days and then the inspector must submit the certificate within 4 business days and then notify ESV within 2 business days. The easiest way to do this is through ESV connect.

It is important when installing into a screw terminal to ensure the cables are twisted together to ensure no loose strands as per 3.7.2.5. Pictures is an earth conductor however on a load carrying conductor this can cause overheating.

The 600mm no go zone apart from 1M of the external wall, what if the inverter is installed in a garage? In the middle of the house? The allowance is that you can comply by going straight up vertically then once the 600mm is met you can then run vertically.

The 600mm is to protect the firies when they pierce the ceiling they will know not to go within 1m of an external wall or directly above an inverter.
