🚛 LOCKED, LOADED AND HEADING TO THE HAWKESBURY! ❤️
We’ve had the call from DHL Global and we are beyond excited!
$500,000 worth of Krisis Flood Bags are officially locked, loaded and heading to the Hawkesbury, with delivery to Hawkesbury's Helping Hands this Thursday morning.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Drake International and the support of Good360 Australia half a million dollars’ worth of flood bags are coming into our community — with the potential to help save millions of dollars’ worth of furniture, household belongings and treasured possessions when future floods threaten.
Through Good360 Australia HHH was able to secure this extraordinary allocation for only a minimal handling fee, and DHL Global is picking up and delivering the entire shipment to us completely FREE of charge.
Of course, getting them here is only the beginning.
As an unfunded charity, HHH will now need to raise the money to safely store these bags locally so they remain protected and ready to deploy when our community needs them.
And that highlights something about HHH that perhaps isn't always visible.
Before we can provide any of the services we offer from The Hive, first and foremost we have to raise the rent — every single month.
Before the food can be stored and distributed, before someone can have a shower, wash their clothes, sit down for a cuppa, access our technology hub, receive emergency assistance, share a community meal or before disaster supplies can sit ready for the day they are needed — we need somewhere for all of that to happen.
The donated goods may sometimes be free, but the building that allows us to receive, store and distribute them isn't.
The rent isn't the exciting part of what we do, and you don't see it in the photos.
But without The Hive, so much of what HHH does simply couldn't happen.
For those who haven’t seen our previous posts, Krisis Flood Bags are military-grade waterproof protection bags designed to store and protect household furniture and belongings during flooding.
The larger bags can hold the contents of an entire room — furniture and all. Once properly sealed, they are designed to protect those belongings from floodwater, even if the bag itself becomes submerged for up to four weeks.
They also have a shelf life of up to 10 years, which is incredibly important for what we are trying to achieve.
We will NOT be distributing these bags straight away.
Instead, they will be stored locally as part of our disaster preparedness resources, ready to be deployed when our community is facing a genuine flood threat.
We will work alongside other organisations and those involved in emergency and community response to develop the best distribution model, identify vulnerable and at-risk households, and make sure these valuable resources are where they need to be when the time comes.
The Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley is one of the highest-risk flood areas in Australia.
For us, that isn't simply a statistic.
HHH has walked alongside our community through repeated floods — before the water arrived, during the emergency and throughout the long days, weeks and months of recovery that followed.
We have seen homes emptied onto footpaths. We have seen families exhausted and overwhelmed. We know the enormous financial cost of replacing the contents of a home, but also the emotional cost of losing belongings that simply cannot be replaced.
Those experiences have taught us something incredibly important:
Preparation shortens recovery.
That is what this is about.
Doing as much of the work and planning as possible before the next flood threatens.
Have the bags here.
Have the plan ready.
Know where they need to go.
And be ready to act.
This isn't about creating fear around the next flood.
It is about being better prepared for it.

We’re also looking forward to working with Krisis Bags moving forward as we continue exploring what more can be done to strengthen flood preparedness in the Hawkesbury.
There is still plenty of work ahead to get the distribution model right, and we will keep our community updated as that progresses.
But right now?
We are allowing ourselves to be VERY excited. 😂❤️
