This classic heritage picket fence on a beautiful Elwood property had unfortunately reached its final day.

KPT was engaged to bring back a nice refreshed look to the perimeter while keeping within the strict heritage requirements bringing back to new the historic Elwood frontage which makes this suburb one of the most beautiful in Melbourne.

The tricky part on this build was the difference in elevation across both streets and the undulations in the ground due to tree roots etc, getting the finished fence to look uniformed was the ultimate goal.

The fence was built with a mixture of both treated pine & cypress timber, a great option for longevity, the picket style is called 'pointed' for obvious reasons..

This was a tricky space to make work, the client asked KPT to design & try to make the space work with all appliances & items proposed.

Given the small space we were handed, it was certainly a challenge, some compromise had to be involved to make it all work, the sink for instance we decided to offset to the left slightly in order to give the client usable cupboard space that had to work with the washing machine & its plumbing on that wall.

In such a small space, the less visually going on the better, this is why we went for a clean minimal look with the overhead units, no handles, which incorporated an integrated rangehood.

The overall design aimed to give a clean minimalistic look which helps to extenuate the stone bench top & splash back which was G-Lux Tidal White stone, the splashbacks at the sink window were made from Ombra Blanco Porcelain.

The doors & panels were natural white two pack.

Overall the space works really well & storage was absolutely maximised, it has a clean fresh look & a very happy client which is most important.

- KPT Design & Build -

Something a little less stationary this time...a full fit out of a motorhome, the design prompt was to make it feel sleek, classy, minimal but to retain warmth in materials.

The colour black is timeless, real timber is also timeless but brings a contrast of warmth to the minimalistic & stark presence of the satin black finishes throughout.

The ceiling was lined with an acoustic panelling system with black foam backing with real oak veneer battens, this allowed for a clever way of discreetly hiding the extraction fans within the ceiling, also thin LED strip lighting in the ceiling & below the overhead cupboards brought the light needed but still worked with the flow of the ceiling leaving it all looking as uniformed as possible.

The shower/toilet has a concealed slide out toilet to maximise floorspace when using the shower, the walls were finished with concrete look Venetian plaster by the client which kept with the minimalistic monochrome theme to contrast the warmth of the natural timber ceiling & solid oak benchtops which were finished with matte clear coat to keep the feel & look soft, no gloss on this project...

Overall the design & the build brought the sleek & class we were trying to achieve, designs like this take thought, layouts can be tricky with such a small space, the balance between function & style must compliment eachother equally in a space like this.

A returning customer for this beautiful project, this time round it was splitting a huge living space in half and relocating the kitchen into that half to create another bedroom and a much more usable kitchen with plenty of character, win win.

A stud wall was built to create a space to accommodate an L-shaped kitchen with an oak barn door to enter the space.

All doors, drawers & panels were finished in natural white satin two pack paint, all with soft close systems.

The beautiful benchtops were solid messmate timber, a beautiful species native to south eastern Australia, finished with only the best from Germany.

A no handle finger pull detail for the over head units was used to create a nice clean look and solid oak handles to the base units to compliment the benchtops.

It was a pleasure to transform another space for a close client of KPT.

Overall this was a very enjoyable creation by the KPT team, these sort of projects are the very reason we exist.

The build needed to work in this clients space to accommodate a mini bar and also a study, not too far to travel for after work drinks...

It needed to be walnut to fit in with the rest of the living space, it was constructed from walnut veneer panels with solid timber edging and designed in a 50/50 layout so that the study could be concealed when not in use and opened half way to look neat whilst in use.

Warm LED lighting was used to give the unit some atmosphere in its space.

The unit was finished with furniture wax to keep a natural feel and look.

Then acid etched antique mirrors to complete the look.

Turned out a nice piece, with elegance and function combined.

This client got in touch with KPT to add some furnishings to their recently renovated beautiful period style home in St Kilda.

The first build was a mud room on entry to the property consisting of four arched shaker style push open doors for shoe & doggie bits storage, this had a solid oak bench top with a matching oak floating shelf above.

Secondly there was coat hanging storage area with matte black rail whilst also hiding the switch board, the doors were manufactured to match the vertical lines on the wall panels to keep things uniformed.

The client chose the perfect colour of "Bracken Green". Two pack satin finish gave it that on trend look of class, finished with solid oak handles & coat hooks, all timber was finished with water based clear coat to retain the natural timber colour.

The second build was to be a mini bar & banquet seat consisting of soft close drawers for glass storage & a deeper drawer for general storage below, the benchtop & floating shelves were solid oak finished with oil to enhance the natural warmth & depth in the timber colours, the unit was finished with "Natural White" satin two pack paint.

The banquet seat area had extra thick cushions upholstered with navy corduroy fabric with piping detail to all edges. Below was three separate storage areas with pull open doors finished in "Natural White" satin also.

Overall a very enjoyable build & a great client to work with who was very pleased with the outcome.

-KPT Manufacture & Install -

KPT was engaged to bring this particular clients office build vision and design to life.

The build had to incorporate two seperate electronic sit-to-stand desks, have open and closed storage, each desk to have its own drawer set and cable management, there was also a nook for the printer.

The desks were custom built to suit the electric legs, the rest of the bench tops were book matched so that the grain of the wood remained consistent across the span of the build, the timber used was spotted gum which is one of the most beautiful timbers out there, finished with Feast & Watson furniture wax, a solid timber edge detail was manufactured on to all leading edges for durability and aesthetics.

Concealed LED lighting was manufactured into the build bringing the whole unit to life, whilst also lighting up the desk space.

For the overhead storage unit, fluted glass was recessed into the back of the doors which really worked well on this occasion.

Finally, the clients decision to go with the colour teal was definitely the correct one as it really brings a great contrast to the warmth of the spotted gum timber and also did a great job of painting the manufactured items too.

All in all this was a great build and a great team effort, the final product speaks for itself!

-- KPT Design, Build & Replacement --

The client on this project had decking in various areas around the property, all of which had sadly come to the end of their life span, a full replacement was the only option.

There was quite an awkward and unused outdoor space on one side of the property which had a large pebbled area which really never had much use. The client wanted to utilise this area and got in touch with KPT with a plan, a small extension to accommodate a gym area was to be built, this was designed to work with the new deck area which would also be built at the front of the new extension, a box gutter as opposed to an external gutter was built into the roof to gain an extra 300mm of internal space, considerable excavation of the pebbles and soil had to be carried out to accommodate the new decking structure.

We decided to go with Merbau decking with the wider 140mm board, all perimeters had a border with mitres, raised planters were also designed and built to break up the space and bring some life into the overall area once full of plants and bushes.

The end result really transformed the outside areas of the property and utilised the space to the full, creating a completely new area to enjoy all year round.

This client wanted to add a hidden home study to their living space but also an area for some enclosed storage with display shelves for books and ornaments.

The hidden study nook desk was constructed from white satin MDF, the shelves and bench made from black butt timber veneer with solid oak front edges, finished with Feast & Watson furniture wax, the contrast in the grain was aimed at complimenting the beautiful herring bone flooring.

The bi-fold doors were finished with the timeless colour oyster grey two pack paint with a satin finish to give the doors a more gentle look, complimented with sleek, over length solid oak pull handles, the cupboard doors had the same finish but were push/pull with no handles to keep things minimal.

The client was very pleased with the outcome on this intricate but pleasing build.
