We’re pricing up a pretty exciting batch of cool old stuff at the moment. A few fancy expensive original presses, and a few original Australian presses that are equally cool and fancy but significantly less expensive than their UK/US press counterparts.

Big fan of 80s liner art layouts and photography and the Myer record department, which I’m told had a great punk section back in the day!

If the weather’s started to get a bit cold, and some blissful zoned out drone seems like a nice way to spend your winter afternoons, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve got a number of new to stock titles from the excellent No Holiday out of Brooklyn, NY which has been steadily reissuing a lot of drone, noise and washed out sounds.

‘Sky Blue Void’ by Matthew Bower’s Total, originally released in 1994, combines the sound of guitar, Egyptian twin-reed, vacuum cleaners, radios, organ and metal into what the void sounds like (probably).

Nocturnal Emissions, the project by UK sound and multimedia artist Nigel Ayers, gets some first time on vinyl pressings of the ritualistic ‘Invocation of the Beast Gods’ (‘89) and the celestial ‘Cathedral’ (‘91).

Today’s recommended listening comes to you from Mastery — the product of mastermind Ephemeral Domignostika (Spirit Possession, Ulthar, Pale Chalice, Black Curse, Pandiscordian Necrogenesis) — with the album Valis.

Once a follower in the tradition of fellow Bay Area acts Leviathan, Crebain and Weakling, Mastery has evolved into something more. Valis is like a form of free jazz black metal — twisted and complex, with upwards of 100 riffs per song. Eschewing traditional songwriting and conceptual forms, Domignostika creates through spontaneous composition, cut ups and free performance. His extremely unique guitar style, polyrhythmic drum patterns and urgent vocal delivery bely the fact that Valis is the work of one person playing everything with the utmost intentionality.

If you’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the chaos of Domignostika‘s live performances in any other setting, Valis is this dialled up to 11.
