🔥 Gas heater safety 🔥

Gas heaters are generally safe to use if only it is used properly and there is sufficent ventilation. Otherwise there is a risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

Tips from EnergySafe Victoria to avoid CO poisoning.
1. Gas heaters serviced every two years by a qualified gasfitter.
2. Ensure adequate ventilation leaving a window open if necessary particularly if your heater is open flued.
3. Don't use rangehood or exhuast fan at the same time as your heater. As this can create a negative pressure environmemt and draw CO into living spaces.
4. Don't leave gas heaters on overnight or for extended periods.
5. Check for changes in how your heater works e.g if the flame changes from its usual colour. Any change contact a gas fitter.
5. Install a CO monoxide alarm.
6. Know symptoms of CO poisoning (tiredness, shortness of breath, headaches, dizziness, nausea, weakness, confusion, chestpain)
