Most people pick a concrete colour by looking at a small chip under indoor lighting — and then hoping the finished slab looks the same.
Here's what actually helps when choosing a colour or finish:
1. Consider your home's facade. Warm-toned brick or render often suits warmer concrete tones. Modern, cooler-toned facades usually work better with grey-charcoal mixes.
2. Think about how the colour reads in shade versus direct sun. Some lighter tones look quite stark in full Melbourne afternoon light.
3. Remember that exposed aggregate takes its colour from the natural stone — which behaves differently to a straight oxide-tinted pour.
4. Consider how the colour ages. Some tones shift noticeably in the first 12 months after installation.
We walk every client through colour and finish selection before the job starts — because making this decision without guidance is one of the most common sources of post-job disappointment.
Get it right from the beginning.
