Today is the end of an era!

From our kitchen to our food trucks, from Hiro to Royale, and everything in between, Andy has been a huge part of The Pantry family since he joined us 2013.

Chef, leader, event wrangler, and all-round legend, he’s done it all. We’ll miss his energy, his skills, and most of all, the good times. We are going to miss you buddy.
Thanks for everything you’ve done for us all. Wishing you all the best!!!

Some will be familiar to you, others less you. One thing is for certain though, they are all pretty darn cool peeps - and we couldn’t do what we do without them.

2025, three days in... and we’re already cooking (literally lol).

A guy called Marshall McLuhan once wrote “We drive into the future using only our rear-view mirror”. It got us thinking…

We’ve had 30 years of giving it a crack. A huge part of this has been learning from where we’ve been, and chasing what lies ahead. The road’s had its bumps, for sure, but that’s where the best stories - and successes - come from.

Thanks for being part of the ride – here’s to a year of big ideas, bold moves, and most importantly plenty of good times around the table.

The most important thing in life are the people we are closest to. Our family and friends.

We hope you have a fantastic 2025!

It’s no secret—Kevin is an absolute favourite around here. Whether he’s chatting with regulars, managing the team, or dazzling us with his event hosting skills, Kevin is the kind of guy who makes everyone feel special (and always leaves them smiling).

Here’s what Kevin had to say about life here at the Pantry:

🎤 Most memorable moment?
“When I walked into a glass door in front of a full house. The customers laughed with me… I think.”

🍴 Favourite Pantry dish?
“The sushi bowl—fresh, delicious, and perfect every time. Just like me… kidding!”

🤫 Best kept secret about The Pantry?
“I’m actually a chef! Bet you didn’t see that coming.”

🎄 Special festive treat?
“Eggnog vanilla bean crème brûlée—because even desserts can have a bit of flair.”

Here’s a throwback to 20 years ago when the Pantry Christmas Party was THE event of the season! Well it was if you were 6 years old ;-)

Picture this: Santa in the house (on a slightly wobbly chair), kids shrieking with excitement (or maybe a little scared of the big guy in red), parents gossiping around the tables, and pure festive chaos in the air. Party games, gifts galore, and kids lining up for their moment with Santa—it was messy, magical, and an absolute riot.

These were the days when Church Street truly felt like a village - we wouldn’t trade those memories for all the Christmas hams in the world.

If summer had a flavour, it might just be The Pantry Burrata.

This Brighton favourite has earned a spot in the hearts (and stomachs) of our customers, one creamy bite at a time.

Shocking we know! 

How in earth did we see what was going on around us?

Back in 2003 Guy pitched an idea to Dan. Let’s publish our our Pantry magazine. Naturally the answer was yes. 

So for the next few years we regularly published a free ‘glossy’ that featured recipes, local community events, the odd local celebrity interview … and lots and lots of photos of ‘Pantry People’.

We thought it’d be fun to reshare just a few images of some of our Pantry favourite customers.

Matt is one of the Pantry’s best kept secrets!

For much of his 14 year career with us he was hidden away in the kitchen, until he moved to the front of house in Feb last year.

As a former chef, customers can rely on his chef palette and knowledge of the food we serve. After all, he’s cooked most of the dishes on the menu!

Now as a Restaurant Manager, Matt brings his natural people skills to the fore and works with his colleagues and team to deliver the best service in Bayside.

Matt’s superpower is his ability to problem solve and think strategically. And he is, it has to be said, a very positive and popular guy.

A born and bred Melbourne fan, Matt is the Pantry’s Nathan Jones—steady, reliable, and the kind of person who makes everyone feel like part of the team. A legend in his own right! 🏉

As we celebrate 30 years of serving our community, we couldn’t be prouder of our ‘little brother,’ Royale, and how far he’s come! 🍔💥

Back in 2014, Royale was just a small idea that quickly grew into a Bayside icon, bringing some of Melbourne’s best burgers to life.

From our famous Royale with Cheese to the vibe you know and love, Royale’s been part of our family and quite likely yours.

This year, he’s back with a whole new look – a retro diner with plenty of heart, classic eats, and all the charm of the original.

Thank you for joining us on this journey! Here’s to 30 years of trying new things, bringing Dan and Guy’s big ideas to life, and to many more good times ahead.
