Cut & Core is undertaking precision diamond core drilling as part of the structural strengthening works to the Lucinda Sugar Terminal Pier in Queensland.

Our scope involves drilling 32–40mm diameter pe*******ons approximately 510mm deep for high-strength threaded steel fixing rods, followed by 100mm over-coring to form recessed anchorage pockets.

Each recess is carefully prepared and diamond ground to provide a flat, uniform bearing surface for the washer and nut assembly, ensuring correct load transfer and installation in accordance with the engineered design.
Using specialist diamond drilling and grinding equipment allows us to maintain accuracy while minimising vibration and disturbance to the existing reinforced concrete structure.

Here we’re utilising one of our compact concrete saws, ideal for working in tight and restricted spaces where larger equipment simply can’t access.

Our operator Filip is putting the final touches on a profiled asphalt section, precisely trimming the edge to achieve a clean, straight finish and ensure the area is properly prepared for the next stage of works.

While you may still see the Concut name on some of our equipment, vehicles, uniforms and project photos, Concut and Cut & Core officially merged in 2023, bringing together decades of experience under one trusted team.

Another challenging project successfully completed by the Cut & Core team.

We were engaged to wire saw a solid steel casing section from a decommissioned turbine at the Kiewa West Power Station. Due to the size and thickness of the steel, wire sawing was the ideal solution, providing a safe, precise, and efficient method of completing the cuts.

Two wire saw cuts were completed, allowing the turbine casing to be separated into sections for safe removal. Projects like this highlight the versatility of wire sawing, which is capable of cutting not only reinforced concrete but also heavy structural steel with exceptional accuracy.

Our team assisted with airport runway crack repairs, helping restore damaged concrete and prepare the surface for reinstatement.

The repair process consists of:

✔️ Trim – Saw cutting the perimeter to create clean, neat edges for reinstatement.
