Transforming history into purpose. At the Docklands Goods Shed, we revitalised the southern end of this iconic structure into a 130-place childcare centre, meeting the growing demand for inner-city facilities.

Honouring the past while embracing the present. Co-Lab Architects was commissioned by the Australian Catholic University to restore a heritage building in Fitzroy for functions while designing a contemporary apartment for the Vice Chancellor.

Through meticulous historical research and on-site discoveries, we reinstated the original colours, mosaics, and murals, restoring the building to its former grandeur. Working closely with an interior designer, we carefully selected period-appropriate furniture to enhance the space’s heritage charm.

The Vice Chancellor’s apartment, Mon Se Jour, adds a modern yet refined touch, seamlessly integrated as a lighter addition above the original structure. A perfect blend of history and contemporary design.
