The 2-metre ScopeDome is the smallest of the range, and is solid and reliable because it's delivered as a single unit.

We've just received a shipment of 2 metre ScopeDomes, so, like we've done for the 3 and 4 metre varieties, we've done a very quick video for people to see how they are presented, and what you might need to know to move them about.

The 2 metre is the baby of the bunch, and comes already assembled - all you have to do is plug in the mains power and you're right to go.

It'll go on a pad or a deck, is ASCOM controlled, and will suit a short to medium scope, such as a 10" f/4 Newtonian.

First arrival in Australia for the new 2-metre ScopeDomes. These are the highest quality, fully automated domes available commercially.

We're doing some measurements to see how various telescopes will go into the new domes.

We've tested the following so far:
Astroworx 8"f/4 CF solid
Astroworx 10"f/4 CF truss
Saxon/Sky-Watcher 10" f/5
Sky-Watcher Esprit 100
GSO/Rainbow RC8

So far, these telescopes fit easily into the dome. The only exception is the 10" f/5 Newtonian, which is tight. With weights and balancing, as well as some careful setting of mount limits, we think it should be doable.

We're also measuring to determine optimal mount offsets for equatorial mounts. The centre-balanced EQ mounts tend to be offset towards the south, but German equatorial tend to be offset towards the north. This leaves the RA-Dec axis intersection at the centre of the dome's hemisphere.

(Finally, there's a bay panel on the far side of the dome, through which you can see our orange forklift outside the dome. No, if you buy a dome you do NOT get a free forklift!)

We've just received a 4 metre ScopeDome for a client. We took the opportunity to have a quick look at how it's packaged for transport.

Quick shipping update:

One 4-metre and several 3-metre ScopeDomes are on ships approaching Australia. ETAs are still rough, because we don't know how long the ships are going to spend in ports on the way (One will dock in Sydney and the other will dock in both Brisbane and Sydney).

At this stage, we expect the domes late January or Early February.
