Everything starts with an idea, then a drawing.
Based in the mountains and 3m underground, planning was crucial to ensure stable temperatures and humidity wouldn’t affect the wine—or the cellar’s timber—in the long term.
From negative waterproofing and an inline fan to remove humidity, through to insulation, timber acclimatisation and airtight wrapping, the plan was to create a continuous building envelope from the inside of the home while shutting out the basement temperatures and humidity.
The process and planning take far longer than the finished product itself. It’s all in the details.
Still a work in progress, but the materials already on display are working together beautifully.
