Service Manager / Senior HVAC Technician
$120,000 – $140,000 + Super + Company Vehicle + Performance Bonus
Full Time | Melbourne Eastern Suburbs**
Hands-on today. Build and lead the department tomorrow.
Rapid Cold Air Conditioning is looking for an experienced **Service Manager / Senior HVAC Technician** to help us build and grow our Service Department.
This is not a desk-based management role.
You will be hands-on in the field carrying out service, diagnostics and repairs, while progressively taking greater ownership of our Service Department.
We are looking for someone who is technically strong, **confident with customers, genuinely enjoys dealing with people**, and wants to grow into a position where they are ultimately responsible for the performance and development of the entire Service Department.
When required, you will also support our Installation Team with technical installations, commissioning and troubleshooting.
What You'll Do
Service & Diagnostics
* Carry out HVAC service, fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance
* Diagnose complex technical issues
* Manage warranty and post-installation service issues
* Assist the Installation Team when technical support is required
Customers & Relationships
* Communicate confidently and professionally with customers
* Explain technical issues and solutions in a clear, practical way
* Build trust and long-term relationships with our customers
* Develop relationships with Facility Managers and commercial clients
* Identify service and preventative maintenance opportunities
* Represent Rapid Cold professionally when dealing with customers, suppliers and industry contacts
Lead & Develop the Team
* Support and mentor technicians and apprentices
* Provide technical guidance and help solve difficult jobs
* Lead by example in workmanship, communication and accountability
* Help develop a strong service culture as the team grows
Run & Improve Service Operations
* Help manage service scheduling and job flow
* Improve service procedures and workflows
* Manage parts, materials and technical support
* Maintain high standards of Simpro notes, photos and job documentation
* Reduce callbacks and improve first-time fix rates
* Monitor service performance and identify areas for improvement
Build the Department
* Help develop the structure and systems of our Service Department
* Develop preventative maintenance programs and service agreements
* Help grow recurring residential and commercial maintenance work
* Build relationships that can generate new service opportunities
* Improve technician productivity and service profitability
* Assist with future recruitment and development of the Service Team
**The long-term goal is for you to take full ownership and responsibility for the Service Department as it grows.**
Who We're Looking For
You may already be a **Service Manager or Supervisor**, or you may be a highly experienced **Senior HVAC Service Technician ready to take the next step.**
You will ideally have:
* Strong HVAC service and fault-finding experience
* Strong refrigeration and electrical diagnostic skills
* Experience with split, multi-split and ducted reverse-cycle systems
* VRV/VRF experience highly regarded
* Relevant trade licences and qualifications
* Current Australian driver's licence
* **Confidence dealing directly with customers**
* **A genuine enjoyment of customer interaction and relationship building**
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
* Ability to mentor and develop other technicians
* Good organisation and job documentation habits
* Commercial awareness and the ability to recognise service opportunities
* Pride in workmanship and attention to detail
* A practical, accountable and solutions-focused attitude
* The ambition to grow into a senior leadership position
