Indigenous Plumbing and Sanitation Foundation

Indigenous Plumbing and Sanitation Foundation The IPSF aims to address issues affecting Indigenous communities who are living with poor sanitation, putting them at risk of disease and sickness.

Building upon the success of the Indigenous Apprenticeship Program, we are looking to expand and embrace more Indigenous apprentices from regional and remote areas, while also funding initiatives which improve sanitation standards within indigenous communities. We are committed to building productive partnerships with the community, the business sector and Government to increase the number of young Indigenous youth obtaining training and employment, by creating more plumbing apprenticeships.

The IPSF has been on the ground in Lismore and other flood affected parts of Northern NSW and Southeast QLD over the past few weeks to examine how best we can help those in need.

We know these floods have been devastating to many regions across the east coast of Australia. These floods have had a significant impact on Indigenous communities and businesses.

The IPSF is working with local community organisations like the Koori Mail to provide much needed resources and aid to families who need it.

We need your help.

Every contribution makes a difference. We encourage you to give freely so that those affected can return to their homes as soon as possible.

Last week the IPSF visited the flood affected areas of Lismore to see how we can best help with the clean-up and rebuilding effort.

IPSF CEO Eric Allgood met with Koori Mail General Manager Naomi Moran to discuss ways in which we can provide relief for flood victims and contribute to the rebuild of Indigenous homes that have been damaged by flood.

As Lismore is again threatened by floodwaters, the IPSF stands ready in partnership with community groups like the Koori Mail to provide assistance to those in the areas affected by these devastating floods.

The IPSF wishes everyone a happy World Plumbing Day! World Plumbing Day is celebrated annually on the 11th of March.

Propper plumbing and sanitation services are a crucial driver of economic and social advancement. In Australia, we have communities in need that lack basic access to these essential services.

At the Indigenous Plumbing & Sanitation Foundation (IPSF), we work with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia living with dangerously poor sanitation conditions. We help directly by funding projects that improve living conditions and deliver clean, reliable, and sustainable drinking water and plumbing services.

You can help our important mission. Donate today: https://bit.ly/3BmqgvX

The Indigenous Plumbing and Sanitation Foundation (IPSF) fights for the basic human right of every Australian to have access to clean drinking water.

Last week, the IPSF travelled to the Southern Downs Region, QLD. The traditional owners of the area are the Keinjan Peoples, who call the land Gooragooby.

Collaborating with the Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Company, the IPSF visited a Keinjan family to help refill their recently broken rainwater tank. The pump and fittings broke meaning almost all their water was lost, and once these were repaired by a local licenced plumber, the IPSF ensured the tank was filled.

The water tank is the family’s only source of clean drinking water – and the tank was severely depleted with only a few days of water remaining. During the visit, the IPSF repaired faulty fixtures, taught the eldest three children (13,14 and 16) how to repair leaky taps, and tanked in 10,000 litres of clean drinking water.

Small, grassroots projects like this can make a huge difference in the lives of so many. The cost of this project was less than $500, meaning it could be completely funded through our smallest sponsorship package – yet it delivered immeasurable value for this Keinijan family.

Over 150,000 Australians do not have proper access to clean drinking water. Your donation empowers families and communities with lasting, sustainable access to proper plumbing and sanitation services.

It takes so little to do so much good. Donate today: https://bit.ly/3BmqgvX

Don't think you tax deductible $5 donation does much?

Not only does it provide safe, clean drinking water, but it will also provide a much needed economic return for a remote Aussie community.
