This switchboard was tucked up high at the back of a cupboard, with no safety switches protecting the circuits.

What we did:
✅ Replaced the old board with a new one
✅ Fitted safety switches (RCDs) on every circuit
✅ Built out the cupboard so the board now sits at the front, with proper clearance and access

The result is safer, cleaner and compliant, and it’s much easier for the next sparky to work on.

If your switchboard is old, hard to reach or has no safety switches, it’s worth getting checked.

Old phone points are dead weight in most homes now nobody’s plugging a landline into these anymore. Converted this one into a switched double GPO to run some LED strip lighting in the brick alcove. Small job, but it turns a redundant point into something you’ll actually use every day. If you’ve got old phone points sitting idle, it’s worth asking your sparky whether a GPO or USB outlet makes more sense for how you actually live.

Alch Cera studio Alch Cera — designed by my beautiful partner Bambi, wired and fitted out by Blue Arc. Custom LED strip lighting throughout, Tasmanian oak shelving in to***co stain built on site, and an antique dragon wall fitting she sourced from France. A lot of features in this one, but they all add up.

Finishing touches on this Glen Iris build today, three Phoenix 12V heated towel rails. It’s the little details like this that make a bathroom feel finished, not just functional. Wouldn’t mind a set of these at home myself 👌.

I’m Dan. ⚡

21 years as a sparky, based in Frankston, and still on the tools every single day. I started Blue Arc Data and Electrical because I got tired of seeing people get let down by tradies who don’t show up, don’t communicate, and don’t give a s**t. That’s not me.

At home I’ve got my partner Bambi, my step daughter Gigi who’s 9, and Don our 9 month old English Bull Terrier who is pure chaos in dog form and has completely taken over our lives.

When I’m not working I’m on the mats training BJJ, helping Bambi with her ceramic studio, or planning our next family trip away.

I specialise in EV charging, electric underfloor heating, and renovation electrical but any residential electrical is my game.

Looking forward to growing Blue Arc further and excited for what’s to come.
