Last night we held our “thank you committees” event for the 57 Victorian members who regularly contributed to AILA in 2025 via local and national committees.

These members contribute to AILA across Fresh, environment, advocacy, education, Q***r, Connection to Country, Membership, FRAC, profile and Board to achieve our shared goals more effectively than we could on our own.

To everyone who chipped in or supported those chipping in to our community this year, thank you.

Today AILA VIC attended the 2025 Career Education Conference talking to high school career advisors about landscape architecture and the Be A Landscape Architect program. There was SO MUCH INTEREST! Watch this space as we will be doing a call out for member support for the BALA 2026 program before the end of the year.

Thank you to AILA VIC President Andrew Partos for attending today, too.

Last week, we hosted our third AILA VIC Awards project tour at Bridge Mall Redevelopment, Ballarat, winner of the 2025 AILA National Landscape Architecture Award for Civic Landscape, 2025 AILA VIC Award of Excellence for Civic Landscape and the 2025 AILA VIC Regional Achievement Award.

We were joined by MP Juliana Addison, Member for Wendouree. From the City of Ballarat, Mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves, James Guy, Executive Manager, City Design, and Natalie Robertson, Director Development and Growth also attended.

The tour was led by project Registered Landscape Architect, Adam Gardner, Associate from Hassell Studio, who were the lead consultant.

We heard about the incredible impact this project is having on Ballarat. This investment in outstanding public realm has revitalised this formerly declining economic precinct: new businesses are opening, vacancy rates have dropping by 70%, and the community has returned to this lush, green, and vibrant new civic destination in the heart of Ballarat.
