Do it once - do it right, is a mantra that I hold to, it became evident, that it's one not shared with the person(s) that installed this 'structural' beam when the kitchen was extended.

When it comes to wood, there isn't very much at all that I won't turn my passions to, and antique restoration is most definitely one such passion. To breathe life back into an old piece of furniture gladdens my heart to no end.

This is the style of renovating that stirs my soul, my imaginings and my sense of play.

Taking what is already there and with collaboration and imagination, transforming unused spaces into places of bespoke beauty.

The idea of selling your 'family home' because 'it's too big' now the kids have moved out, or needing to sell because the family has outgrown the home, is fraught with emotional charge.

So why not (as this article suggests) stay put, grow another family, or grow the house?

An idea that is delicious in so many ways.

A current space conversion in Olinda.
What was an unused space under a house with no amenities whatsoever, is now a fully functional kitchen with power, plumbing and lights.

I'm wondering would you have such a space, ripe for conversion into an airbnb perhaps?
