When upgrading schools, staff spaces can sometimes be overlooked.

At Eltham North Primary School, the focus was on creating better facilities for the team behind the running of the school.

St Ferrer partnered with the Victorian School Building Authority and Ed Ewers Architecture to refurbish two existing staff amenities within the administration area. The works included a complete strip-out and rebuild, delivering new finishes, fixtures, and improved functionality throughout.

With the school fully operational, the project was delivered in two stages to ensure staff always had access to amenities. This was a key consideration in maintaining normal school operations over the eight-week programme.

Tandy Johnson, Acting Principal writes, 'St Ferrer had excellent communication. Professional service at all times. All staff were respectful, cooperative with any school requests and friendly.'

Announcing the recipient of the St Ferrer Impact Build 2026.

Angelina has spent the past 11 years building a life for her family in their home.

As a single mother of three young children, a school teacher and a daughter helping care for her elderly mother nearby, much of Angelina’s energy goes into looking after others – with major house maintenance items piling up.

Through this initiative, the St Ferrer team and participating partners will complete a one-day refurbishment to help make everyday life a little easier and more manageable for Angelina and her family.

The Impact Build Day will now take place on Friday 21 August 2026.

The revised date has allowed St Ferrer additional time to bring the right trades, suppliers and project partners on board to deliver greater impact.

St Ferrer was engaged by the Department of Education to deliver a 1,950m² refurbishment of their Coburg office.

The project addressed ageing infrastructure and improved staff amenities. Works were delivered across the North and South wings in two staged phases to minimise disruption within the live environment.

The refurbishment included demolition of existing elements and the installation of two kitchens, new solid and glazed partition walls, joinery items, and over 100 workstations, including sit-stand options. The upgraded workspace also incorporates locker banks, a wellness room, focus rooms, meeting rooms, and quiet booths to support a range of working styles.

The fitout increased overall workstation capacity, providing a more flexible environment to accommodate evolving staff needs.

Welcome to the team, Mick Hare.

Mick has joined St Ferrer as Leading Hand Carpenter, bringing more than 30 years of experience across residential, commercial and public infrastructure projects.

With extensive experience in joinery and detailed carpentry, Mick brings strong technical capability to site and understands the coordination required to deliver work to specification.

Reflecting on his new role, Mick shared, “I’m really pleased to be starting with St Ferrer. I’m looking forward to working on significant projects around Melbourne with the team."

St Ferrer recently completed cladding remediation works across a strip of operating shops in Hampton

Over 8 weeks, our team replaced 130m2 of non-compliant cladding with HVG Facades MondoClad in Anthracite Grey.

The project required careful planning and coordination due to the live retail environment and street-facing location. Access was managed through a combination of scissor lifts, EWPs, rope access and traffic management, allowing works to be completed safely.

Throughout the project, access to the shops below remained open, with no impact to the ongoing operation of the businesses.

Creating better learning environments starts with upgrading the spaces students use every day.

St Ferrer partnered with the Victorian School Building Authority and CohenLeigh Architects to deliver the refurbishment of 3 toilet blocks at Craigieburn South Primary School, supporting students from Prep through to Year 6.

Delivered within a live school environment, the project was carefully staged to ensure students and staff always had access to essential facilities.

The works involved a complete strip-out and refurbishment of the existing amenities to better support the needs of the school community.

This project continues St Ferrer’s ongoing partnership with the VSBA, delivering upgrades across schools that make a real difference to students and staff.
