Sometimes, the most important part of organising isn’t what you change. It’s what you leave exactly where it is. ❤️

When I started sorting through these cupboards, there were button tins, sewing kits and little things that might not mean much to anyone else.

But to this client, they meant something. They held memories, and that mattered.

And that’s why listening is such an important part of what I do.

This wasn’t about throwing everything out or buying beautiful matching containers.

It was about giving everything a good sort, making it tidy, finding a place for things and keeping what was important to them.

The button tins stayed. The sewing kit stayed. And yes, the tissues needed to be front and centre!

And I have to say, I really enjoy working this way too. There’s something lovely about working with what someone already has, making things easier for them and seeing how happy they are with the result.

Because a home isn’t just about where we keep our things. It’s about the memories and stories that live alongside them.

Sometimes, all someone really wants is a little help making things work better, without losing the things they love.

And I’m more than happy to help with that. ❤️🌿

What do you do with a spice cupboard that’s only 30cm deep… and packed to the brim? 😅

You make every centimetre work.

This cupboard had plenty in it, but finding what you needed meant moving things around and searching through bottles at the back.

With some tiered storage, matching jars and a good sort-out, everything is now much easier to see, reach and use. ✨

Kmart and Amazon were definitely our friends for this makeover!

And the best part? A very happy client who is now feeling inspired to get back in the kitchen and cook up a storm. 👩‍🍳

You don’t need a huge pantry to make a big difference, sometimes it’s simply about making better use of the space you already have.

If you’ve got a cupboard, drawer, pantry or little area that needs some attention, The Everyday Helper Co can help.

A lovely little job this week.💚

A big thank you to one of my clients who very kindly passed on these beautiful children’s clothes for me to donate.

There were so many gorgeous pieces, and rather than having them sit unused, they’ve now been sorted, folded and are ready to go to a new home where they can be enjoyed again.

Thank you for trusting me to take care of it.

Sometimes helping is simply making sure the right things get to the right place.

This pantry had plenty of space—it just needed a system.

We grouped similar items, created practical zones and made everyday essentials easy to find and put away.

The result? Clearer benches, a calmer kitchen and a pantry that works for the family. ✨

“Wear thongs. No socks. No problem.” 😂

A big thank you to our wonderful followers for all the fun and clever suggestions. I love that we can share simple ideas and help each other out along the way. 💛

The Missing Sock Theory 🧦

Is one the loneliest number?

While travelling recently I did some washing and later realised… one sock was missing.

I searched everywhere, then decided to go back to the laundromat, and there it was. 😂 Even better, some lovely fellow travellers had found it and rescued it for me.

And now I’m home… it’s happened again to the same pair of socks!

WHY does it keep happening? Socks are small, light and very good at hiding — inside fitted sheets, trouser legs, sleeves, behind the washing machine… or apparently in another dimension.

So, quick sock poll:

A — Thrower
B — Keeper
C — Hoarder 😂

I’m definitely a C… although I think I may need to become an A!

Tell me in the comments — A, B or C? 👇

Stay tuned… I might have a few tips for those lonely socks. 🌿

Practical Help in Action 🌿
Helping life move smoothly.

A mum recently approached me and asked if I could help a young person in her family find Christmas casual work. Of course, I was happy to help.

We began with a good chat about their interests, strengths and the kinds of places where they thought they would enjoy working. From there, we identified the roles and businesses that might suit them best.

I guided them through setting up job profiles, but it was important that they completed the steps themselves. That way, they weren’t just preparing for these applications, they were learning how to manage the process independently in the future.

Over the following weeks, suitable opportunities started appearing. We caught up again over the weekend, worked through their resume and submitted some applications together.

They asked me, “But what if I don’t get the job?”

I said, “If it’s for you, it won’t go past you.” Sometimes we all need that little reminder. 💚

One application encouraged them to walk into the store and say hello to the manager. How refreshing is that? In a world of online applications and faceless recruitment processes, sometimes you can still walk in, have a conversation and make a genuine connection.

It’s been lovely to draw on my HR experience again and use those skills to help a young person build confidence and independence.

I’ve also been supporting one of my regular clients with the transition of a family member returning home after being unwell, helping to make things a little smoother for everyone.

Different kinds of support, but all part of what The Everyday Helper Co is about—practical help, personal support and helping people feel more confident doing things for themselves.

I’d love to know what your first job was, mine was in a newsagent. Let me know in the comments below.

If you or someone you know could use a little practical support, please feel free to get in touch.

Always happy to help. 🌿
