Studio Workshop Architects - Award winning, multidisciplinary studio based on the Gold Coast At Studio Workshop, we love design and making in equal measure.

Our unique approach blends traditional design techniques with a workshop of advanced fabrication machines. We experiment with the tools at our disposal to brink bespoke results to every project. We work to maximise the value and potential of each client brief, and then some.

GALLIANO

Some updated visualizations accentuating the soft curves which shapes the building’s silhouette. Galliano has a sculptural presence within its streetscape. Each residence is designed as a private sanctuary, occupying an entire floor and framed by expansive glazing.

A defining feature of Galliano is the individual retractable sun screens to every unit allowing residents to modulate light, privacy, and outlook. As they shift throughout the day, the façade subtly transforms, giving the building a constantly moving form and a dynamic architectural identity.

Progress is well underway, we cant wait to share some site photos soon.

BONOGIN

A home designed as a sanctuary. Nestled into the Bonogin landscape, this luxury residence places wellness at the heart of everyday living. An entire dedicated level is devoted to recovery and performance - featuring a private gym, sauna, cold plunge and restorative spaces - transforming the home into a personal retreat.

The architecture is carefully oriented to capture sweeping hinterland views, blurring the line between inside and out. Natural materials, layered forms and a grounded palette allow the house to feel embedded in the landscape, not imposed upon it. Here, wellness isn’t an add-on - it’s integral to the way the home is experienced, lived in, and felt.

A place to slow down, reset, and reconnect with both body and site.

KAIA – Mermaid Beach

This collection of full-floor residences in Mermaid Beach is defined by its strong yet grounded presence — a composition that balances solidity and softness. The feature wrapper, a rammed earth base anchors the building, its tonal richness echoing the natural hues of the surrounding context and addressing the easement to the east. Above, a celebration of circulation, the core wrapped in a cream brick not shying away from being the focal point of the design.

On track for DA lodgment shortly, we are excited to share this one with you all.

contentious proposal for urban densification in the heart of Broadbeach. This 54 unit development will provide a blend of living and amenity in a vertical typology. The base material not shying away from the traditional brick of the area. We are looking forward to this one progressing!

The team at SWAA is proud to share the success of Ame on Riviera at last week’s Gold Coast and Northern River architecture awards. This was our inaugural entry in the AIA Awards as a practice, and we are so pleased to have received a Commendation! Next stop, the Qld State Awards on 27 June. ⁣
⁣
From the jury who visited the project:⁣
“This infill development in Miami, Gold Coast, is an exemplary and innovative response to the traditional ‘six pack’ development, where cars are given primacy. The architects worked closely with the female-led developer to instead provide an urban solution which adds significantly to the streetscape. By running two sets of units east-west it allowed a street entry and northern light into the front row of units. The cars were moved to a central courtyard. Cross ventilation and ‘open ends’ are achieved to all units. Despite reducing the yield from 7 to 6 dwellings the overall result was greatly improved, and sales value of each unit was increased.”⁣

Adding our mark on the Gold Coast skyline within the heart of Broadbeach. Galliano dances in the sun with each unit having their own retractable sun screen giving the building a constantly moving form. The overall design delivering neutral tones and subtle curves.⁣

The main concept for the kitchen was to compliment the exterior by brining the bold curves through the design. The double height in the ceiling space to allow for the flush pool on the rooftop gave us an opportunity to play with a vaulted ceiling design with a larger than usual depth in the ceiling cavity.⁣
