Renovation series

Step 2 - Make a plan

Getting your plan right from the start not only will save you time but also save you $$$.

Thats why partnering with the right architect or draftsman is so important. (Don’t worry we can recommend one for your specific requirements)

Investing time in you vision board will give you a head start on what you’re looking for and how you want it to look.

It can be a lengthy process depending on the amount of drafts. Working together with your builder (in our case, us) can save help reduce the amount of drafts but also be able to inform you on rough estimates as the process progresses.

In this meeting the architect will run through measurements of what the house currently is and what you’d like to change. If you have a to scale plan this short cuts the process a lot, we didn’t but Jordan was able to provide a to scale sketch with laser measurements.
A sketch of what additions you’d like is a great starting point. (Note: Also keep a copy of your title handy for the architect.)

From here they will head work away on a few concept plans for you. Then you will be able to pick and chose what aspects you like and don’t like to come up with your first draft plan.

Once you’re happy with your plan it then goes through the process of engineering and energy rating. Small changes may be needed in these processes.

After this is when you get to come up with your scope of works…
