Well done to all. This was a long time coming.

The NSW Government is finally taking action on dodgy heat pump installations after weeks of media coverage and pressure from industry.

A compliance blitz has now been launched, targeting high-risk installations. New rules will ban door-to-door sales tactics and introduce a five-year warranty on heat pumps.

This follows shocking findings that up to 91 percent of installations audited were non-compliant. Master Plumbers NSW - MPA NSW has long warned of dangerous work and poor-quality products entering the market.

We welcome the government's response, but the message remains clear. Always use a licensed, qualified professional.

Premier Chris Minns and his deputy Prue Car MP have both said NSW won’t be implementing a ban on gas for new homes. It follows comments on the weekend from Environment Minister Penny Sharpe MLC, who indicated that the option may be on the table.

MPA NSW CEO Nathaniel Smith “commends Premier Chris Minns for his commitment to evidence-based decision-making, taking into account the unique needs and preferences of our state.”

“As an industry association representing the interests of Plumbing Contractors and gasfitters, we stand ready to collaborate with the government to ensure the sustainable growth and wellbeing of NSW communities.” Mr Smith said.
