NTS Group recently completed a nice smaller project involving the replacement of approximately 130m of existing rising main with new DN125 HDPE rising main.

While smaller in size, the project came with plenty of challenges, including:

• Over 30 live service crossings

• Trenching in close proximity to large fig trees

• Working alongside a tidal river

NTS Group has been completing some interesting works recently.

• Installed a temporary DN225 sewer diversion within a basement soon to be excavated, with the pipe laid on the surface and bracketed to the wall to allow the client to excavate around it
• Completed a DN125 HDPE rising main (approx. 130m)

Within this job alone, after positive identification, the team located over 30 redundant and live services without a single strike.

NTS Group recently completed an emergency repair for a local golf course. The irrigation pipe had burst beneath 2 x DN1200 stormwater pipes, with the works carried out in water-charged ground.

To overcome the constraints, the team utilised the existing damaged pipe as an enveloper, reducing the size of the new pipe through this section before returning to full size once clear of the stormwater assets.

This approach avoided the need to remove the stormwater pipes—both of which remained full at all times—minimising cost, risk, and disruption.

A great example of practical problem solving and on-site engineering by the team.

Project Overview – DN1500 Manhole Construction

NTS Group recently completed the construction of a 1500mm manhole in the roadway over an existing DN1200 stormwater pipe, providing a new DN375 stormwater property connection.

This project came with its challenges:

• All works completed at night
• Manhole poured in situ
• Excavation depth of approximately 4m
• Existing stormwater main running half full
• Road required to reopen daily, requiring bracing and steel plates over shoring boxes at the end of each shift

Despite the complexity and demanding conditions, the NTS crew showed resilience, consistency, and professionalism throughout, delivering a successful outcome on a difficult job.

NTS Group is nearing completion of our dual line project, involving a DN560 rising main and a DN280 water main. While there are still some complex sections to complete, including final connections into the existing mains, the project is progressing well.

We have also successfully wrapped up our fire and water services works.
