Merry Christmas

We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all our valued customers for supporting us in 2020.

After a huge year we have decided that we need a holiday and will spend some quality time with the family.

Our business will be closed from Thursday the 24th December and will reopen on Monday the 18th January.

What is the condition of your switchboard?

In the last few months we have come across some pretty serious problems in peoples meter boxes.
In the worst case we had a fire which was contained in the metering enclosure, but was just lucky to be noticed and did not spread outside to the property. We have also seen porcelain fuses being red hot and main switches melted.

In all these cases the switchboard was over 20 years old, and had not been updated and still had the original main switch and porcelain fuses.

I would encourage anyone with an older fuse board to make it a priority and get it updated before it fails.

Some of the other benefits of a new circuit breaker panel besides the fire safety aspect, is your families safety. In a new board every circuit will have its own individual safety switch to protect yourself from electrocution if an electrical device fails.

The cost of an upgrade depends on the number of circuits and the physical location of the board. A typical 3 bedroom house usually comes in around the $1000 mark.

With the amount of extra appliances and air conditioners we are putting in houses these days, it is also a good opportunity to look at your mains cable, to see if it is large enough to supply your current and future electrical demands.

It is with great pleasure that we would like to welcome Baylin Visona to the Craig Kendall's Electrical Team.

Baylin has grown up on the Sunshine Coast and attended Kawana Waters State College and graduated last year. He enjoys being outside and loves his sports and athletics.

He has worked with us for about 2 months now and we have loved his enthusiastic approach and willingness to learn. He shows care and courtesy to all our clients and their property, and it's a pleasure to have him around.

As a first year apprentice Baylin has a lot to learn but he is already showing that he listens and takes instructions well. He will be closely overseen by myself to ensure our quality of workmanship is maintained to a very high standard.

Below is a job I was lucky enough to do for a lovely family in Mooloolaba that upgraded their old halogen down lights to a new LED strip light utilising their old light holes. No plaster board repair or painting was required. I also upgraded their other halogen lights with LEDs and they were amazed at the difference it made to the light level in their home as well as giving it a modern look and feel.

It has been a little bit chilly on the coast the last few days and its time to get the blankets and doona's out of the cupboard. With the cooler weather, the days have just been beautiful and I hope all the Mums were able to relax and enjoy the sunshine on their special day yesterday.

Great news if you are thinking about installing or replacing a split system air conditioner.

There are currently two Government rebates on offer that could save you up to $700 depending on the size of Air Conditioner.

The newest of rebates is from the Qld government which is a Energy Efficient Appliance rebate which is $300 on any 4 star rated Air conditioner. 1 rebate per household. I would get in fast for this one as there is limited funding.

The second is the PeakSmart Energy Rebate from Energex which is up to $400 depending on the size of the air conditioner.

The holiday season is almost over for another year.🏖️

Good luck to all the parents getting everything ready for the school year ahead. Double checking the book list and covering and marking everything.

The Sunny Coast should start also to get a little quieter, where you don't need a full tank of fuel to find a park at the beach or shopping centre.😀

I'm refreshed after having a small break with the family, and looking forward to another great year.
