Protecting properties from invasive w**ds isnโ€™t just about reclaiming landโ€”itโ€™s also about reducing bushfire risk.

Invasive species such as Siam W**d, Lantana and Chinee Apple can create significant fuel loads, impact native ecosystems and reduce property productivity.

One of the most effective land management strategies is the mechanical removal of invasive vegetation, including root systems, followed by stockpiling and controlled burning where appropriate.

Planned burns are an important tool for reducing fuel loads, protecting communities and maintaining healthy ecosystems.

With the dry season now underway, itโ€™s an ideal time for landholders to start planning w**d control, fuel reduction and property maintenance works before the next bushfire season.

Mechanical clearing of Chinee Apple using our Cat D3 dozer.

Declared an invasive w**d in Queensland, Chinee Apple can quickly take over grazing and operational land if left unmanaged.

Mechanical removal of the root systems, stockpiling the material for a clean, controlled burn to minimise regrowth.

All established native trees were retained, with clearing focused solely on the target w**d species.

Black Dingo Contracting provides vegetation management, land clearing and civil support services across North Queensland.

Busy time of the year, removing invasive vegetation and now reseeding pastures, timing it right for the wet season.

From bushfires to flooding, this is North Queensland. Donโ€™t be complacent, be prepared.

Queensland: These rainfall numbers are really starting to get intense.

For context, December 20-27th is forecast to bring some heavy rainfall in from the tropics through much of northern and central Queensland, however where and when the heaviest falls will arrive is still unknown.

Ballparking it, a wide swathe of locations can generally expect falls between 80-200mm, with scattered totals to 400mm on the cards in Queensland's far north.

Flooding could become a problem, right around Christmas however these numbers won't produce the major flooding we came to know in January last year, so don't panic at this time.

The details will all be out later today, consider following along. Cheers Josh.
