Once in a lifetime opportunity to not only sand and polish a stunning, one of a kind Sassafras floor but to do it at a 22 times world champion axe man Tom Kirk(1914 to 2001) former house which he built himself. The Kirk family owned the local sawmill at Mount Wilson. Here is a little bio.👇

Just a light sand, a pressure wash and 3 coats.

Going above and beyond making an Oregon(Douglas Fir for the purest) sample board including mimicking the black staining which is caused by the iron salts from the nail damaging the wood fibres.

The bit of Oregon flooring I used for the sample came out of a 1902 cottage in Watsons Bay, Sydney. I collected and had it in my shed for around 15 years. The Oregon floor(1913) was in Lithgow.
