This week we attended a job to repair a PVC sewer line with tree roots growing in. Once we excavated and exposed the pipe, the real issues became clear.
🔎 What we found:
• A snapped junction allowing roots to enter the pipe
• A sunken rubber joiner as a result of the pipe not being supported with gravel
• The pipe had developed backfall, causing sewer to sit in the line
• The boundary trap had been removed during a previous repair (required by Hunter Water in this area)
Instead of just patching the obvious problem, we repaired the line properly, reinstated the correct fall, installed proper bedding, and reinstalled the boundary trap to bring everything back to standard.
💡 This job highlights the difference between the cheapest quote and doing the job properly. Cutting corners might save money initially, but it often leads to bigger problems later.
