๐ท Employee Spotlight ๐ท
At Track Protection Services, our people are at the heart of everything we do. This week, we're shining the spotlight on one of our dedicated Protection Officers, Biannca. โญ
๐ค What does a typical day on the job look like for you?
๐ Besides the early starts, a typical day involves coordinating with supervisors, workgroups and Network Control to ensure everything runs smoothly and making sure all the safety requirements are in place for planned works. I also spend my days planning for upcoming works. Most importantly the main priority of the day is to ensure everyone gets home safely.
๐ค What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone wanting to join the rail industry?
๐ Be open to learning and just give it a go. I had no background in rail before I applied for my role, but I took the opportunity and haven't looked back. The rail industry has so much to offer, and if you're willing to learn and step outside your comfort zone, you'll be surprised by what you can achieve.
๐ค What is the most important skill a Protection Officer should have?
๐Communication is one of the most important skills. You need to be confident speaking to supervisors, contractors, Network Control and your teammates every day. Good communication helps keep everyone on the same page, ensures work is carried out safely and efficiently, and builds strong working relationships.
๐ค What is your favourite thing about working for TPS?
๐The people, without a doubt. I love how diverse our team is. As a First Nations woman, it's meaningful to work for a company that values diversity and creates opportunities for First Nations people. It makes me feel represented and part of an inclusive workplace where everyone is respected for who they are. I also really appreciate how supportive and approachable everyone is. There is a great team culture where people support each other and work together to ensure a safe and respectful workplace.
โญThank you Biannca for taking the time to share a little about your journey. The people behind TPS are what make our business what it is, and we're grateful to have you on the team! Thank you for your hard work, commitment, and the pride you bring to your role every day.
