This week invovled some fascia repairs on boards that are orginal to the 40 year plus home.

Most of the fascia boards had wet rot on then end grains which is where all timber will deteriorate faster than any other part of the board.

The rest of the facia board where in good nick all being a type of hardwood which will last years with up keep of maintiance.

To patch up these end grains used a wood hardener that strengths the wood fibres

Add some builders bog and ready for paint

Later in the week the client had some new tiles install in the laundry brining up the finish floor level.

3 doors to be cut down to suit the new floor level

For 2 of the doors adding 2 door vents for some air circulation as these rooms are below the flooring system

The toilet door had some lift off hinges that were not able to do their function as the door was only 3mm from the top jamb not being able to lift off the door.

Added an extra doorstop on top cut down the top of the door about 11mm so the lift hinges good be in use as per code for a some toilet that it is.

This week completed the areas where old meets new on the external cladding.

All the flashings installed at the bottom of the cladding, with most on the timber trim installed. Just need some sealant apply where the timber and FC cladding meet.

Got the trailer cleaned out on Aus day which is always a bouns🤙.

Started of the week working on the section between the exsiting house cladding to the new cladding between the deck joists.

Adding a trim piece under the joits that sit on the beam thats in the new wall. Then adding a flashing ontop, Skiaflew Pro in any tight situations, slipping up dampcourse to tie into the existing paper that is under the upper cladding.

I had a game plan in mind for the detail of the bottom of the cladding. I ended up not being happy with the result and came up with a new plan to add a flashing at the bottom. In hindsight I should of went with this detail from the start.

Mistakes like these happens throughout projects and I enjoy the challenge and the learning experience. It may cost myself a few $ now to rectify the issue but the experience and knowledge I have gain from mistakes like these are priceless 💪
