Keep an eye out everyone.

As always, stay safe.

Don’t ignore tingles from taps or other metal fittings in your home – it is a sign of a serious electrical safety issue. If you feel a tingle or minor shock call Energex or Ergon immediately and ask them to check out your property.

Just keep this in mind everyone, with the new sharing economy happening there are now many different ways to get duped by unscrupulous practices. Always ask and check for licences to make sure all works is above board.

As always, stay safe out there.

Online and app-based outsourcing services (like Airtasker) can be a great way to get jobs done around the house, but we’re receiving a lot of worrying reports of unlicensed individuals offering to perform electrical work that, by law, can only be performed by a licensed electrical contractor.

A licensed contractor is the only safe way to get electrical work done, and this license number needs to be cited on any advertising. Make sure they’re legit; check the licence on our Electrical licence holder search here: http://ow.ly/99a350mXa38

If you’re being offered electrical work via an app by someone you suspect is unlicensed, report them to us by calling 1300 362 128. You can help us by providing at least a contact number and screenshots of the offer.

Don’t roll the dice with your family’s life – only ever use a licensed electrical contractor.

It’s important to give solar panels a wide berth; they can still be electrified even if the network supply is turned off or the system has been shut down.

The idea to include an electrician with your pre-purchase building and pest inspection, has been something I have been suggesting to people I hear who are buying homes. Building Inspectors dont know what to look out for or what/if any rectification works may be required.
Hidden dangers are everywhere within homes. If you are thinking about buying a home, why not just give an electrician a call to make sure the home is electrically safe.

Have an electrifying holiday everyone. Stay safe.

Another thing to add to the list of things to check for Christmas. This one should be towards the top however. Make sure to also not overload your house circuits with multiple powerboards with Christmas lights. Ring an electrician and get an extra powerpoint installed.

Have a great Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year.
