And people give Dads so much s**t for keeping all those offcuts for 35 years! We told you it would come in handy one day 😅😝

A spruce up to a few areas on this entranceway.

🪵 We reinstalled a weathered corten steel retaining wall that was not supported correctly originally. Then we concreted in recycled railway sleepers and surrounded them with gravel for the path leading to the existing deck.

💧 We extended the gabion rock basket wall further towards the back and hooked the agpipe into a large french drain that we created to lead into the rear of their property.

🪨 A crazy paved walkway from the house to the shed as well as a semi-circle extension to allow for access to the clothesline.

🌱 We also created a native Australian garden with feature sandstone boulders and more weathered corten steel rings for around the existing trees.

First the result, then the process for those who are interested in seeing what goes into a paving job.

These clients were after an arbor for a climbing plant to grow up with an extended area for a fire pit.

The area before the work is executed.

Area dug out and posts concreted in place.

Roadbase compacted in multiple layers, rain over night didn’t help but at least we know our falls were good!

Whilst we waited for it to dry out a bit before paving we installed the top beams and the rods for the climbing plants.

Laying out river sand and screeding in our levels. Ensuring not only fall down hill but also away from the fence so water doesn’t get trapped in the lower back corner.

Pavers going down. This step is so satisfying. The client went with a 90 degree herringbone pattern with contrasting bricks for the border and body pavers.

More of the laying process.

All laid out ready to mark and trim our semi-circle on the body pavers.

Marking up the pavers for cutting the semicircle. We find the centre point and use a simple string line and pencil to do this. Nothing fancy.

Then whilst still in place we do an initial cut, that way all the pavers start and end at the exact same point giving the curve a beautiful consistent edge. Once scored we then pick them up to finish the cut.

Once the body pavers are all trimmed we start cutting in the border pavers. Here we trimmed down every second paver so that there were no gaps when laying in the border.

We not only haunch in the edges but we bed them in underneath as well for a firm and secure fitting.

We finish it off by locking it all in with a paving lock sand.

✅ Part 2 of our Warners Bay project. We added stairway access to both lower levels of the yard with timber and infill (compacted road-base followed by a layer of 10mm aggregate). A simple and budget friendly solution.

👁️ One small detail you don’t see; we routed, sanded and resealed the edges of all exposed timber on this project. We discovered our client has small grandchildren and these timbers come rough sawn. We wanted to reduce the risk of them splintering themselves on the edges whilst exploring the backyard.

Fishing point job is coming along nicely. Needless to say we are very much enjoying this job and the location. We definitely look forward to showing you all more of this one as it progresses. We have a lot of crazy paving to do and we are loving every square metre of it! ☺️🎣
