Last week took ITEC on a beautiful drive north to Newell Beach, just north of Mossman 🌴 🏝️

ITEC Employment is proud to complete a new apprentice sign-up with local business Walker homes & Construction, creating another opportunity right here in our community. 🏡

What makes this story even more special?

Walker Homes and Constructions previously hosted Leben’s older brother through his apprenticeship a few years ago… and now it’s Leben’s turn. 🌟

That’s what real community investment looks like.

That’s what legacy looks like.

A huge shout out to Zeph and Kelda for continuing to back local young people and for believing in long-term skill development. 👏

Taking on an apprentice isn’t just about today, it’s about shaping families, futures and industries for years to come.

Meet the newest member of the Walker Homes & Construction crew – 17-year-old local apprentice carpenter, Leben.

Leben is kicking off his carpentry career with us here in the far North, learning the ropes on-site with our experienced team while working towards his trade qualification.
He’ll be getting hands-on with everything from foundations to finishing details, helping deliver the unique, sustainable homes Walker Homes & Construction is known for across the region.

Please join us in welcoming Leben to the team – if you see him on site, be sure to say hello and give him some encouragement as he begins his journey in the construction industry.

Congratulations to Kynan Smith and Braxton Wienert-Walker.
Braxton completed his carpentry apprenticship at the end of last year, Kynan has completed his today!
Gone from carrying these guys to them now carrying me at work.

22 years ago I was given an opportunity. The opportunity to start an apprenticeship in carpentry. With consistent work and continued mentorship it changed my life.
Being in business, I’m proud to be able to provide similar opportunities for others to succeed.
