Our construction of the new Burragah Reserve soccer pitch for the City of Tea Tree Gully has achieved practical completion.

Following installation of extensive sub-surface drainage and irrigation, speciality growing medium sand from Port Clinton was imported and placed to design (surveyed as achieving maximum ยฑ2 mm variation over the entire playing surface) and then topped with 8,900 square metres of TifTuf Hybrid Bermuda turf prior to Christmas.

The surface is now well established, top-dressed and in the final stages of commissioning works (including lux testing of the new sports-field LED lighting); installation of goal posts, ball-stop fencing and line marking has occurred, ready for use by the Modbury Jets and local community.

The Beltrame Civil team continues to make strong progress on the road, stormwater and electrical upgrades at the Hutt & Glen Osmond Roads corridor, on behalf of the City of Adelaide.

With early milestones delivered, including stormwater culverts installed across Hutt Road in a single weekend, the project scope has now been expanded to include additional asphalt and footpath upgrade works as far as to South Terrace. The upgrade will deliver safer intersections, improved stormwater management, new cycling and pedestrian links, and landscaping that enhances this key gateway into the city.

Beltrame Civil is busy delivering major upgrades at the intersection of Hutt & Glen Osmond Roads, centred on Carriageway Park / Tuthangga (Park 17).

As our latest major project for the City of Adelaide, the key elements of the road, stormwater and electrical upgrades include:

๐—œ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ: A comprehensive upgrade of the intersection with new turning and through-lanes, profile and relay with deep-lift asphalt, all-new street lighting and traffic signal upgrades, new on-road cycling lanes, dedicated pedestrian crossings, new shared-use paths and ancillary ramps, kerbs and footpath.

The eroded open channel alongside Glen Osmond Road that was threatening to destabilise existing mature gums has been replaced with a covered concrete culvert system to restore stormwater capacity, protect the trees, and create a safer, more attractive gateway into the city. Above the culvert, a shared-use path will link Hutt Street, Glen Osmond Road and Greenhill Road, strengthening walking and cycling connections from the southern suburbs. Landscaping improvements include tree plantings, hydroseeding, and garden beds.

On track for completion by April 2026, this project supports the Adelaide Park Lands Management Strategy by enhancing safety, access, and landscape character along the corridor.

Like this young fan, perhaps youโ€™ve seen our crews at Burragah Reserve and wondered, whatโ€™s going on?

As a second home for the Modbury Soccer Club, this master-planned redevelopment for the City of Tea Tree Gully delivers multiple key outcomes for this popular community space โ€“

โœ… New full-sized turf soccer pitch
โœ… New sports-field LED lighting
โœ… Sub-surface drainage and irrigation system, including new pump and water storage
โœ… New consumer main for a new electrical transformer
โœ… Ancillary upgrades including ball-stop fencing and retaining walls

Screening and extensive filling of the previously low-lying western end has occurred to unlock space for the new pitch, with some 1,500 tonnes of site-won and import material placed to correct final levels.

With sub-grade levels now complete, upcoming works shall include importation of growing medium sand and Belair Turf to lay 8,900 square metres of new turf; key deliverables remain on track for completion in 2025.

In the heart of the city, our team has delivered a complex, custom manhole installation in Wright Street / Whitmore Square for SA Power Networks.

Surrounded by existing above and below ground high voltage as well as major water, sewer, and stormwater trunk mains, and with the additional challenge of unstable ground conditions to contend with, our crews drew on extensive confined-space experience to safely deliver these works.

The six piece, 28 tonne pre-fabricated panels were assembled in place within the shoring box assembly; with footing piers auger-drilled, starter bars dowelled and meshed, and floor slab poured in-situ. Reinstatement, new conduit runs and the re-direction of existing feeds finalise the project.

These essential works will power the new $500 million โ€˜Market Squareโ€™ Central Markets expansion. Proud to continue supporting SA Power Networks in maintaining and upgrading the cityโ€™s essential infrastructure.

Beltrame Civilโ€™s crews have been hard at work delivering new gravity sewer mains in the Munno Para West / Andrews Farm region, in Adelaideโ€™s northern suburbs.

Undertaken almost entirely at night to minimise traffic interruptions and road closures in this busy precinct, works have included excavation and installation of more than 750 metres of pipework, and construction of thirteen manholes at depths of up to 7.5 metres.

This initiative represents one phase of more than 10 kilometres of strategically planned essential upgrades to wastewater and mains water infrastructure, spanning broadly between Blakeview and Angle Vale. These important works will benefit both existing residents, as well as the growing community who are soon to inhabit the many new housing estates in this key development area of the State.

This substantial project, having an estimated completion date of early 2026, has been a successful collaboration with Fulton Hogan as framework partner for SA Water, delivering critical and lasting infrastructure for the people of South Australia.

As one of three civil projects weโ€™re currently delivering for the City of West Torrens, the Kurralta Park Stormwater and Road Reconstruction Package is making solid ground in protecting local infrastructure and homes from flooding.

Kicking off in October 2024, this upgrade has seen new stormwater infrastructure installed across 11 streets, beginning at Brownhill Creek and Daly Street, and progressing upstream with a strong focus on Wood Street.

Works include,
- 1,600 metres of new drainage (Humes 1500mm diameter pipe and 1200x750mm culvert)
- 40 junction boxes and 40 double side-entry pits (Bianco Precast)
- 1,000 metres of new concrete kerb and 65 driveway crossovers
- Gabion headwalls
- Full verge and asphalt reinstatement

Designed by Southfront to provide 5% AEP flood protection to existing flooding hotspots, the project demonstrates the Cityโ€™s commitment to futureproofing against flood events and improving community resilience.

Construction is well underway on a major stormwater upgrade beneath Unley Road for the City of Adelaide - a new 41-unit box culvert system to replace part of the original southern parklands drainage network believed to date as far back as 1876.

Draining flows from as far east as Victoria Park, the original ~1200mm (four foot) channel had been progressively enlarged over the years into a twin-cell structure made of bluestone, brick, and concrete. During excavation, our team even uncovered the original timber sleepers of the abandoned 1879-built Mitcham tram line, encased within the existing road pavement.

With the existing 149-year-old culverts at the end of their service life, careful planning commenced for a new design that could deliver a significant increase in flood management capacity, whilst also limiting impacts to the sensitive natural parklands ecosystem.

The new system comprises 4.5-tonne Bianco Precast box culverts (3600 x 1500 x 1200 mm) inclusive of six custom splays; along with downstream precast and upstream in-situ poured culvert, headwall and retaining walls, the system also calls for 200 tonnes of armour rock for channel stabilisation and scour / erosion prevention. Subtle realignment of the original channel also serves to protect the many nearby significant trees that shade the creek system.

Thanks to detailed traffic management planning, just one weekend road closure was needed over the four-month construction program - minimising disruption to the 17,200 vehicles using Unley Road each day.

Remaining scope includes final concrete works, deep lift asphalt reinstatement and channel landscaping, with completion on track for late May.

Construction is wrapping up on the creek rehabilitation works at Meadowvale Reserve, delivered for the City of Tea Tree Gully.

This seasonal creek, which feeds into the Dry Creek system, has a history of high-velocity flows during major storms. The project was designed to reduce the impact of flash flooding, stabilise the channel, and protect against scour - all while retaining the ancient gum trees that define the site.

Implementation has included reshaping of the flow path, stacked gabion baskets and rock armour throughout the channel; by protecting the flow path, scour and sedimentation will be controlled, and can also provide a positive improvement for the creekโ€™s ecology and water quality, by providing improved habitats for small fish, frogs and other aquatic species.

Falling under Councilsโ€™ โ€˜City Beautification Worksโ€™ program, the scope further includes a new path to link the western and eastern sections of the reserve.

As our three-month construction program nears completion, weโ€™re excited to soon announce additional new civil works for the City of Tea Tree Gully, set to begin in the coming months.
