Succulents are a popular choice of plants and decor for office spaces: they require little care and they look pretty. However, if your succulent is not looking at its best check these tips:

- Water when the soil is completely dry
- Use succulent soil to help drainage
- Any container is good, but the best option is terracotta
- Succulents love sunlight, but if the area gets too hot, they can get sunburn (dry leaves' tips is a sign of sunburn). Morning sun is the best as it is less harsh

A natural way to give nutrients and good structure to the soil is processing your kitchen scraps through a worm farm. The by-product from the worm farm can go straight to be mixed with soil providing a organic fertiliser.
That way you are helping your garden / balcony produce better vegetation, keeping a healthy soil and sending less waste to the landfill.

We pay lots of attention to plants and flowers as a way to embellish our homes and gardens. However we don't learn much about and how we are taking a lot from it without giving much back . Take a few minutes to see this great video on the importance of soil to produce food. We can do our part even in our small backyards.

Home grown herbs are very rewarding, can be grown even in the smallest space and are very easy to maintain.
Tips:
- Buy a good quality potting mix for vegetables,
- Do not over-water (if you touch the top soil and feels moist, wait until is almost dry to water again)
- Make sure the plants are close to a window to get good light.
