Helping you create a thriving and beautiful kitchen garden that suits your needs, budget, aesthetics and time.

Serving from Albion Park to Vincentia, NSW. Based in Meroo Meadow, NSW. No one is born with a green thumb, so let me help you discover yours! I truly believe everyone should be growing something in their garden that they can bring into the kitchen, be it herbs, salad greens, or every veggie under the sun! There is nothing like the taste and satisfaction of eating something you grew and tended your

self. Whatever motivates you to pursue a kitchen garden - the sustainability of growing your own produce, learning a new skill, having a beautiful space to potter about in, or the amazing health benefits from local organic produce - South Coast Kitchen Gardens can find a way to make gardening fit your space, budget, time and goals.

Nothing fancy here — just my trusty 3-bay cold compost system quietly turning garden waste into beautiful, rich homemade compost. 🌱♻️

One bay gets filled, one is breaking down, and one is ready to use. No constant turning, no complicated ratios — just layers of garden clippings, kitchen scraps and other organic material, then time does most of the work.

The result? Dark, crumbly compost packed with organic matter that goes straight back into my gardens to feed the soil, improve its structure and grow healthier plants.

🔥 SHOU SUGI BAN + SOIL BLOCKING WORKSHOP 🌱

I’m very excited to be teaming up with Wes & Kristy from The Garden Cupboard for a hands-on morning bringing together beautiful craftsmanship and practical seed-raising skills.

We’ll start in the workshop with Wes & Kristy, where you’ll use Shou Sugi Ban — the traditional Japanese technique of charring timber — to burn and preserve your own handcrafted timber seed-sowing box. Wes will have each box individually made and ready for you to finish on the day.

After a break for morning tea, we’ll get our hands in the soil! I’ll show you how and why I use soil blocks for raising seedlings, including how to make them successfully at home. You’ll then fill your newly finished timber box with soil blocks and sow your own seeds ready for spring. 🌱

You’ll head home with:
• Your handcrafted, Shou Sugi Ban-finished timber seed-sowing box
• Freshly made and sown soil blocks ready for spring
• The skills to continue soil blocking and seed raising at home

📅 Saturday 5 September | 10am–1pm
📍 The Garden Cupboard, 2 Trim St, South Nowra
☕ Morning tea included
🎟️ Places are limited

Bookings are now open — follow the link in bio for full workshop details and to secure your place.

Come burn, block, sow and take home something beautiful AND useful. 🔥🌱

Just for context… 😅

A little peek at what a fairly standard week looks like around here!

Between garden consultations, installations, maintenance visits, workshops, community engagement and all the behind-the-scenes work that comes with running a small business, my days fill up pretty quickly. Then there are school drop-offs in the morning and the post-school sport practices and appointments every evening around dinner.

I absolutely love that South Coast Kitchen Gardens has grown into a business that keeps me this busy, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to work with me. But it also means I’m not always sitting at a desk with my phone or inbox in front of me and might not have a moment until later in the evening or the weekend.

So if it takes me a couple of days to return a call, reply to an email or get something through to you, please know I haven’t forgotten you! I’m most likely out in a garden somewhere, covered in dirt, and working my way through the list. ☑️

Thank you for your patience with this little one-woman business. I really do appreciate it. 💚

Definitely scrubbed the dirt out of my nails for this one! 😂🌿

Last week I traded the work boots for heels to attend the Shoalhaven Business Awards as a finalist in the Outstanding New Business category, with a record number of entrants this year.

While I didn’t bring home the win, it was a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on just how far this little side hustle has come. That in itself feels like a huge achievement.

I couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support of my husband, Joel. From day one, he believed in this idea before anyone else did. He’s been my biggest cheerleader, the person I bounce ideas off, the one who helps keep my creative brain on track, and, every now and then, the one who gets called in to lift the heavy stuff. 😬❤️

I’m also incredibly grateful to be part of such a welcoming and supportive Shoalhaven Business Chamber. Their enthusiasm gives people the confidence to take the leap into business, knowing they’ll have a community behind them every step of the way. SBC Women in Business

Thank you, Shoalhaven, for supporting South Coast Kitchen Gardens and helping turn an idea into a reality. Here’s to what’s next! 🌱

Today’s adventures…. making Dan’s dreams come true (hopefully) of growing and selling lots of seedlings at Nowra Community Food Store. Great little greenhouse from Backyard Farmer that I’m fitting with irrigation misters. More next week once I finish the irrigation and we’ll do a test run 😊

The best garden projects are a true collaboration, with everyone bringing their own expertise to create something special.

The brief for this project was to reimagine the existing kitchen garden to better suit the new owners’ style of gardening and aesthetic, while improving drainage and brightening the space. The result is a clean, organised layout that will be just as productive as it is beautiful.

Ben and the team at Horizon Landscapes completed the corten steel terracing and edging and installed the landscape rocks, creating the perfect framework for the garden (and I LOVE the colour palette of the cream beds, tan rocks and corten). Wes from The Garden Cupboard built a custom potting bench using old timber posts the owners found in their shed, with bespoke vertical garden structures still to come.

The clients assembled and positioned seven Birdies Garden Products - #1 Raised Garden Beds raised beds, and I then retrofitted each one with the WaterUps - Wicking our World wicking system before filling them with my custom-blended, light, nutrient-dense soil mix—ready to grow an abundance of vegetables, herbs and flowers.

I love projects like this where talented local businesses each bring their own skills to the table to create something special. I can’t wait to watch this garden grow.

Time for an autumn boost of Healthy Earth fertiliser for this garden to fuel the beautiful hellebores and azaleas that are getting ready to put on a show. And since Berry has so much clay in the soil, a bit of Clay Breaker and Soil Health Conditioner does wonders when used consistently to make all of those nutrients bio available to the plants.
