Field is game ready!!!

Thanks to Dad and Frank for helping markout today. Full weekend of footy at the dog pound with the juniors tomorrow and seniors on Sunday.

Great to see the ryegrass popping through just 6 days after sowing at Pambula Beach Rugby League ground home of the Merimbula Pambula Bulldogs RLFC and Sapphire Coast Touch Association it is a result of some near-perfect growing conditions and a well-executed program 👌🌱

A few key factors behind the success so far:
• Applied very high rates of growth regulator to the actively growing kikuyu to reduce competition to the new ryegrass
• Scalped the kikuyu right back prior to oversowing
• Used a premium starter fertiliser at sowing
• Sowed ryegrass at high rates using the right gear (Ventrac aerovator with seed box)
• And most importantly, keeping all traffic off the surface from day 5 onwards to allow the seedlings to establish properly

A big thanks to all user groups for understanding and respecting the ground closures, it makes a huge difference to the final outcome 🙌

Next step will be an application of all-purpose controlled release fertiliser around the 3–4 week mark to keep things powering along.

Looking forward to seeing this surface come together over the next few weeks!

🏉 Season prep underway at Bega Rec Ground🌱

We’ve been busy at the Bega Recreation Ground, putting down a heavy oversow of Striker Game Day Blend Ryegrass to get things ready for the upcoming Bega Roosters season.

With the cooler months approaching, this work is all about building a tougher, more resilient playing surface that can handle the wear and tear of a full footy season.
Over the coming weeks, as moisture and temperatures line up, the ryegrass will begin to establish and fill in, helping create a dense, hard-wearing cover across the oval.
It’s all part of the preparation that happens before the crowds roll in and the games begin.

🏉 Footy season prep is underway at Pambula! 🌱

Today the Pambula Rugby League ground received a heavy oversow with Striker Game Day Blend Ryegrass as we begin preparations for the upcoming Merimbula-Pambula Bulldogs season.

This specialised sports turf blend is used to strengthen the playing surface through the cooler months, improving wear tolerance, recovery and overall turf density so the field can handle the intensity of weekly footy.

With good moisture and soil temperatures, we should start to see the ryegrass germinating soon and the ground begin to transform into a thick, durable winter playing surface.

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes before the first whistle blows, and this is one of the key steps in making sure the ground is ready for the season ahead.

We’re looking forward to seeing the Merimbula-Pambula Bulldogs running out on a surface that’s ready for it.🔵⚪️

Watering Smarter in Spring 🌧

💧 As the weather warms up, your lawn’s water needs change. A deep soak once or twice a week is better than light watering every day it encourages roots to grow deeper, making your lawn more drought-tolerant for summer.

✅ Water early in the morning to reduce evaporation.
✅ Aim for around 25–30mm per week (including rainfall).
✅ Use a simple test – if a screwdriver pushes in easily, the soil has enough moisture.
