I grew this from seed imported from Brazil...before Covid. This species is very happy growing in Australia and rewards the grower for little attention. Prefers to be planted at the edge of a pot or basket and produces magnificient bunches of variegated foliage.

Soli mutata..a lovely species I grew from seed imported from Brazil..very hardy and most attractive..I have used it extensively in hybridizing on account of its pattern and hardiness.

As I have been growing and hybridizing begonias for over 50 years, my family decided that I should have my own web site. I specialize in mail orders but I do have collectors to my home by arrangement. I have been importing seed from various countries and crossing those with australian plants to create strong and new colourful hybrids which you will see on my web site. All my plants are grown under sarlon shade cloth, even during winter months. Brisbane doesnt get as cold as other cities, but we do have a few weeks of frost but the plants do not seem to mind as they have species in their parentage. I find the most important matter to bear in mind is that they must have good drainage..that is most important. Once they are established, a little gentle neglect is what I call it. Too much watering will do damage. That is why all plants must be in the same potting mix so you know when they all need watering, preferably of a morning, so the foliage isnt wet overnight, especially during the cooler weather. I am happy to help at any time with any advice.
