How are you planning to unwind over the holidays?

For me… well, we have 4 kids between us - 3 still at home and cue school holidays… BUT if I get a minute to myself, I love to read - a cheeky magazine or curl up with a really good book!

Did you know that styling and accessorising your bathroom doesn't need to cost the world?

I used these speckled hanging wall planters from Kmart in my own bathroom (shhh I won't tell if you don't) and planted some flowing plants to give some colour to this wall.

You can do this for less than $30!

Hey everyone! I'm Bec, if you haven't met me or seen me around - the ginger behind Ginger Jayde Designs.

I run this small Perth-based design business focusing on fresh, functional and family-friendly bathrooms.

In order to start (and end) your day right, bathrooms should be a place of relaxation and calm - whatever that looks like for you.

For me, that is warm timbers, light and bright tiles, a rain shower and a nice big bathtub!

SNEAK PEAK... "the pink bathroom"

A lot of work has gone into this project over the past year, and we are so close to being finished (working in a regional setting always just takes that little bit longer).

With a Melbourne art curator for a daughter, this shared bathroom needed to be fun, playful and bring some of that cool art vibe to this country cottage. So amazing to see this vision come together and looking forward to sharing the full reveal with you in the next few months.

We couldn't help ourselves with giving everyone a sneaky peak now the tiling is complete.

Tricky spaces are no match for us!

Our clients Ash & Nick have a tricky bathroom layout, with a door on each side of the room and not a lot of space to play with. But never fear, the wet room is here!

By flipping the layout, we were able to fit a big bath (Nick's must have - and at over 6ft it had to be a proper sized bath) and a rain shower. This newly engaged young couple hopes to have a family in the years to come, so we had to make sure we made it family friendly and functional (and easy to clean). Check out the last image for the new floorplan.

We are so grateful to be able to work with these amazing humans and deliver the bathroom of their dreams! Enjoy team!

How high do I go with tiles on the wall?

It's a question we get asked a lot... and quite often it comes down to personal preference and well, budget.

When you tile all the way to the ceiling you really should take the cornice off (if you have cornice) and put it back on once the tiling is completed - otherwise your tile might be thicker than your cornice and you won't get a nice clean look. Tiling part of the way means you don't have to do this. And obviously less tiling = less tiles and less labour required.

Even if budget isn't a huge concern for you - tiling part way up the wall can also really elevate the space, making your room feel taller and bigger. It is something we are seeing more and more of in our bathroom designs.

A key thing to remember if choosing to tile part way - pick another horizontal line in your room to line it up with - if you have a 'feature wall' make sure it is something on that wall. We usually go for the top of the window.

Got to love this Gibson Ensuite 😍

Small spaces can be tricky, but by using a frameless corner shower, wall hung vanity and narrow mirror, we were able to create a fresh and functional bathroom with plenty of space for mum and dad (and let's face it - sometimes the kids too).

GJD x GIVE RENOVATIONS... out with the old and in with the new.

Using warm timber tones and beiges, we created a calming bathroom that will stand the test of time 😍. We removed the bath to create a walk-in shower and added a big new window, giving a new sense of space and so much more natural light.

Want to disappearing act?! now you see the shower... now you don't!

Sometimes the original layout doesn't make the best use of the space, and really who wants to shower in a dark cave?! So we mixed it up here!

HINT: shower might be on the other side of that nib wall...
