This recent backyard transformation was completed in Clarkson, WA.

When we arrived on-site, it was clear the backyard wasn't being used to its full potential.

Dead grass, weeds, ant activity, and large areas of exposed sand had left the space looking tired and difficult to maintain.

After completing hundreds of projects across Perth, we've noticed a common issue with some newer homes. In many cases, the original landscaping doesn't include enough quality soil beneath the lawn, making it difficult for natural grass to establish properly over the long term.

In this particular backyard, there was very little soil beneath the grass and mostly sand underneath, which made it difficult for the lawn to thrive.

What the client wanted:

• A realistic, natural-looking lawn
• A low-maintenance backyard
• A cleaner, more usable outdoor space
• Preparation for a future spa installation

• Removed approximately 150mm of existing grass and sand
• Cleared the site and prepared the area properly
• Allowed space beneath the lawn for future spa power cabling

Another new project completed in Darlington.

Total area: approximately 100m².

At first glance, the lawn looked reasonably good. However, the client was experiencing ongoing issues that were becoming difficult to manage.

Due to limited sunlight along the tree line, sections of the natural grass were struggling to survive. On top of that, ants had been damaging the lawn from underneath, leaving patchy areas throughout the property.

The client wanted a long-term, low-maintenance solution that would look great year-round.

What the client wanted:

• A realistic, natural-looking lawn
• A low-maintenance outdoor area
• A solution to the patchy grass problems
• An outdoor space that looked great in every season

What we did:

• Removed the existing grass and sand to approximately 100mm
• Capped off reticulation where required
• Prepared the entire area for installation
• Supplied and installed our Darlington 40mm Super Natural Artificial Grass
• Completed detailed custom cutting around existing stone features for a seamless finish.

• Crushed blue metal base installed and compacted

We use crushed blue metal because it provides excellent drainage, doesn’t hold water, and creates a strong, stable foundation for artificial grass.

Equipment & access:

Access to the area was challenging.

To avoid damaging the monument located in the centre of the lawn, we used a mini skid steer to carry out the excavation and preparation works safely and efficiently.

Our team completed all preparation and installation while protecting the existing landscape features.

Timeline:

This recent project was completed in Glen Forrest for a client who had an unused area beside their shed that simply wasn't living up to its potential.

The area had become boggy during winter, water would sit on the surface, and it was difficult to use throughout the year.

Like many Perth Hills properties, the space had good potential — it just needed the right preparation and design.

What the client wanted:

This recent project was completed in Brabham, WA for a busy pilot who spends a lot of time travelling throughout Australia.

Like many homeowners we speak with, finding the time to maintain outdoor areas had become difficult.

The yard was a mix of sand and old dead grass, and during winter the client’s caravan and vehicles would get stuck regularly.
