Design vs Install 🌿

Our recently completed Wembley downs job looking pretty shmick thanks to handy work 👌🏽

The design included…

🌿 fencing panels with some clever planting to hide the pool pump equipment

🌿 non fruiting olive tree for maximum impact and minimum mess

🌿 lots of viburnum (where wide enough) to eventually screen the fence

🌿 mix of some of my fave low maintenance ‘coastal’ plants to compliment the modern coastal home

and our very patient clients who waited months due to our busy install calendar 🙏🏽

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the products we used for our alfresco so I have made the below list of our selections & suppliers 👇🏾

Swapped the fire pit out for a coffee table for Summer ☀️

the perfect spot for a ☕️ or 🍷 under the trees 🍃

compacted crushed stone (we used a crushed quartz) makes the perfect base for firepit areas because…

✔️ it’s stable to walk on
✔️ low maintenance - I give it a sweep every now and then and it doesn’t tend to get w**ds (no w**d mat required)
✔️ isn’t a choking/throwing hazard for small kids (like stones and gravel can be)
✔️ won’t burn from the heat of the fire pit (such as lawn)
✔️ cheaper than hardscaping (paving, concrete etc)
✔️ looks good!

Sending off one of our last designs for 2023 and this one’s a cracker! 🍃

Adding maximum value and livability to this existing home. Working around existing features to remain (such as the rock wall retaining) and adding new features to create a more functional and attractive space ✨

Some of the main changes we included that will have the biggest impact on the space was…

✨ A new gable structure to open the space up and allow more light in

✨ Extend the flooring in the alfresco area to create a more generous entertaining space

✨Replace solid fence with new modern balustrade to increase views and connection to lower level

✨ Widen the stairs to create a more ‘grand’ appearance

✨ A new casual seating area to the lower level to increase usability

✨ And as always lots of greenery to soften the space!

Looking forward to helping people create some beautiful outdoor spaces in 2024!

Natural look decking oil 🤎

The mix we used and our results are finally here 🙌🏽 after MONTHS of hunting around for the perfect mix

A few important points to cover first…

🤎 we used Blackbutt timber, which is naturally blonde/light brown in appearance. Other timbers will show different results.

🤎 We wanted to use a ‘pigmented’ oil, as opposed to a ‘clear’ oil. The reason for this is a pigmented mix offers more protection from UV (like sunscreen for your deck)☀️

Now for the mix we used…

We used following mix of products 👇🏾

1 part ‘White’ to 3 parts ‘Larch’
(ie 25% white, 75% Larch)

after testing lots of different brands & colours we found this mix had the most natural finish, almost identical to the natural colour of the blackbutt!

I will also be uploading a reel with the full process 😊

have kindly offered a discount code that will be available in the new year for a discount off their products

also important to note, very kindly their products for us to use. however this was after we had already sampled and decided on using their products. we would have used them regardless 😊

using greenery, curves and a combination of materials to bring ‘softness’ to this striking home 🖤

as well as a palette of (mostly native) planting suitable for the climate, that will give a ‘natural’ look & feel 🍃

resulting in a beautiful and practical landscape for this young families ‘forever home’ 😊🍃

One thing you will notice in my designs is that I try to cover as much fencing as possible 🍃(and that I love a dark fence!) 🖤

Planting along your fences is great for not only covering your fencing, but also creating privacy from neighbours 👀 and making you feel like you are surrounded by greenery 💚

A perfect example of this shown in our recent Kallaroo project, showing what a difference some greenery and a lick of paint can make 🙌🏽

Dark fencing also acts as a great backdrop for greenery, making your plants ‘pop’! 🍃

Our eyes are also automatically drawn to lighter colours (such as white), so having a dark fence will be less noticeable 👀 and make the space feel less enclosed 🖤
