The chlorine level in our tap water is normally between 0.5-1.5 milligrams of chlorine per litre. However, it can be a high as 5 mg/l. Whilst chlorine does an excellent job at making our tap water safe to drink, it can adversely affect some people (dry itchy skin and hair, stomach aches/vomiting/diarrhea.) And the water can have an unpleasant taste and odour.
A standard under bench or whole house filter will remove the vast majority of lead/heavy metals, sediment, rust, chlorine and other contaminants. Our basic filter systems will give quality drinking water for 6-9 months before cartridges need changing.
A reverse osmosis system is only really recommended if your water supply reveals a wide range of contaminants or bacteria. People like home brewers/Aquariam owners find this system useful, so they can start with a “blank canvas” and treat the water according to their needs.
