Works commence on this Kalgoorlie Landmark in April!

The McKenzie’s Building is on the State Register of Heritage Places and is a lucky recipient of HCWA Grant Funding.
Here is some throwback imagery of the building in its heyday.
The HCWA Grant is assisting with the much needed verandah repairs to the building.

SCA consistently works with property owners, assisting with the Heritage Grant process as well as documenting and project managing heritage works.
Get in touch if you have a heritage place needing some love.

Inclusive Architecture_

At SCA we help our clients make
important alterations to buildings
to provide universal access while
still respecting significant heritage
fabric. We have just started working
with the Shire of Mundaring to
upgrade these two halls to meet
universal access standards.

2. Glen Forrest Hall

Happy World Architecture Day!

This year’s theme, selected by the International Union of Architects (UIA) is a “Clean environment for a healthy world”.

With this in mind, let’s celebrate how the retention of heritage buildings contributes to sustainability.

Heritage retention helps to conserve a buildings embodied energy (the energy consumed by all of the processes associated with the production of a building).

Put simply- conservation reduces waste!

Our team has recently been assisting the Shire of Brookton with Design Options for their former Railway Station Building.
Four Design Options have been prepared by SCA and look at:

1. Retaining and restoring the existing building

2. Constructing a new building that replicates the existing built form

3. Creating an open pavilion that interprets the original building

4. Conserving the existing building and creating a contemporary addition

These design options have now been advertised to the community for consideration.
We look forward to presenting the designs at a Shire of Brookton Community Forum on the 13th of October.
