Challenges in the Perth Hills Region: Drilling in the Perth Hills presents unique challenges due to the area's complex geology. The region is characterised by fractured granite bedrock, clay layers, and limited aquifers. Locating viable groundwater in these conditions requires precision, expertise, and the right tools.

Revitalising Old-Style Water Bores: Cost-Effective Solutions in Willetton

We had a refreshing change with nice, easy access at this site. The drilling process went smoothly, with no surprises — just Bassendean Sand, as expected.

The bore we completed has a groundwater salinity of 59 mg/L TDS and a low risk of iron staining. The pH level is slightly acidic at 6.9.

We recently completed a successful bore rehabilitation project, using a combination of air and chemical development to restore the bore's efficiency and resolve long-standing issues such as iron deposits, clay, and fine sediment buildup. This comprehensive approach has not only restored the bore’s capacity but also ensured long-term reliability.

🔹 Air Development: We used high-pressure air to dislodge and clear physical blockages, including iron deposits and clay, which had accumulated over time. This technique effectively cleaned the bore screens and surrounding gravel, promoting an increase in water flow.

🔹 Chemical Development: After the air development process, we applied specialised chemical treatments to break down more stubborn deposits, such as iron and manganese. These treatments effectively dissolved any remaining materials that were not fully removed by air development alone, ensuring enhanced efficiency and optimal performance of the bore system.

Drilling a new 36m 4 inch bore in Mirrabooka.
The only place we were able to get the rig in was through the side fence. It was a tight squeeze to get the rig in to where the client wanted the bore drilled.
The drill was straightforward. We encountered as expected nothing but Bassendean Sand.
The bore has a groundwater salinity of 75 mg/L TDS and a low risk of iron staining. The PH is slightly acidic.

We drilled a brand new commercial water bore in Beeliar for 8S Reticulation. The process was smooth, and we encountered the expected geology, thanks to our 30+ years of experience drilling bores along Perth's beautiful Northern and Southern coastal strip.
The drilling process was straightforward. We encountered 6 meters of sand and then reached the Tamala Limestone, Aeolian calcarenite, and variably lithified leached quartz sand layers. 💪

The bore has a groundwater salinity of 514 mg/L, falling within the expected range of 500 to 1000 mg/L TDS, with low risk of iron staining. The pH level is slightly alkaline. 🌿🌞
